Are you wired directly into a teacher chat group? I’m a teacher in south Louisiana, and I haven’t heard a single colleague gripe about any such thing.

Send the kids and have a few killed on buses or when tornado hits and that should do the trick. Maybe cancel at 6:59 am in morning leaving parents in a bind. That’s the ticket.

Your wife was griping about your lil dick yesterday but I just ignored it. Not gonna post the pictures from our session since like you I feel no need to support anything I say.

The only options aren't to wait until the morning of OR cancel school two days in advance. Everyone could hold their damn horses and make an informed decision. I'd be fine if my kid's school texted me Tuesday afternoon/evening to let me know school would be canceled on Wednesday. The slightly less time to prepare would outweigh all the times I've had to take off work on a sunny day to hang out with my kids b/c someone canceled too far in advance.

I'll never understand the hate for teachers on this board.

This expectation that New Orleans area schools should close days in advance for a hurricane that will possibly make landfall between Lafayette and Lake Charles is why we can’t have nice things.

I'm pissed because the hospital I work for is going to sit on their arse and wait to the last minute before calling a code gray.
They didn't do it for Zeta and I drove home from work in the back half of the storm.
I'm on the recovery team and scheduled to work Wednesday morning, and now both my kid's schools are closed.

I guess I don't understand the outrage, teachers should be able to plan for this just like you do
