Stuck choke tubes

I have had two years of stuck choke tubes. On serperate guns, one a 20 ga Benelli and recently a 12ga Retay. Got both out eventually, but was wondering what you guys did or what not to do to avoid this. Should I unscrew and reseat each time I clean the gun? Or should I use a little solvent with it? I tossed each one of them incase I bent or warped them, both times the new choke screwed in easily so it seems I didnt damage the barrel.

Add a little grease to the threads.

Is there a zero choke tube that I should put in so the powder does not affect the threads?

use a little white grease on the threads. You may have to re-tighten up after a lot of shooting, but they wont be stuck.

The Benelli has a thread cleaner for the barrel on the opposite side of the tube wrench. I always remove and clean the threads really well after I clean the gun and apply a little grease on the threads.

Every time I remove choke tubes for cleaning, I put a ‘lil dab of Permatex Anti-Seize, have yet to have an issue…

I have done nothing. I will make it part of my cleaning now. The one on the Benelli 20 I bent the damn handle on the choke tool. The retay was hell to unscrew but it got stuck after I had it all the way screwed out. I guess the buildup had it wedged in. I stop the barrel upside down and squirted solvent down the sides of barrel and let it sit for a day. It came out after that. Thought I was going to take it to a gunsmith
I was always worried that grease would have it loosen. I suppose I was wrong.

I keep my greased up with a blue grease I got from Briley

Now that I think about it, that is where I got the grease I use. Years ago, dropped off a barrel for a relative. It had a stuck choke, which they removed in about 5min (heat). The gentlemen that helped me gave me the little container of blue grease. I've used it ever since.

Aeroshell 33MS but I think it's Aeroshell 64 now.

Had one stuck in my sbe2 for years. Took it to a gunsmith and he got it out somehow. I didn’t ask questions.
Now I put a little CLP on the threads every so often. If I change chokes, I put it on the one I put in. If I don’t change chokes for a while, I’ll unscrew the one that’s in and put a little and screw it back in. And while I’m hunting, I’ll loosen it and tighten it a few times. I’m pretty mindful of it now after thinking that stuck one would never come out.

Would Kroil damage a gun's finish if you used that to unstuck a choke?

Never seize on the threads
If you have a stuck choke, soak the end of the barrel in diesel for a few days and it’ll come right out.

I had one stuck in a SBE one time, soaked in Kroil and ran the freezer/heat gun rotation trying to free it.........never did. Meantime it shined the finish on the barrel when I soaked it.

Put anti-seize lubricant on the threads.

I usually add a little silver anti-seize. But do check the tubes for tightness during the season

After having a few chokes that were brutal to get lose I know either use permatex anti seize on the threads or I use qmax lube. I occasionally have to tighten them up but its way better than not being able to get them lose.
