Trump wants to cut regulations on home builders to cut costs

Video below of his speech on the matter.
My only question is.. if this is successful, which I think is a net positive, wouldn’t that tank the housing market if implemented?
If new houses come on the market for 30-40% less money, then existing home prices will go down correct?

Why do that when you can just give everyone money for a down payment?

I don’t see a problem with this
Next he can get rid of DEF requirements for diesel vehicles which and nothing but a fricking scam

NY and Calif. have so many regulations and slothful building departments, that it takes many added months to build anything.
Unfortunately, most of that is local at town and county level.

Yes
Also, aren't most of these regulations local/state ones?

First off home prices are far too high.
It sucks to be coming into the market these days.
But you have millions & millions of homes purchased at these elevated prices.
If new homes come on the market en masse at 30-40% less due to lower regulations, then would that shift the market price for homes down?
and if it did make the market trend down, people would have negative equity in their homes in that case?
I’m not super smart so I’m trying to work this out.

Just get it deleted. If the military orders a f250 etc. it comes factory deleted. If it’s good enough for them it’s good enough for me.

Trump pledged to cut 10 old regulations for every 1 new one.
Sounds like a plan.

Regulations need to be cut, prices need to come down.
So you'll only make 20% on your home instead of 40%.
We need affordable housing for young couples, it's out of control.

If the results are what is claimed how could it not tank the existing home market?

Price would be cheaper to build new homes and cheaper to buy existing homes.

There is next to a 0% chance of this happening btw

Which would of course cause a complete housing crash leaving many new buyers underwater on their mortgage

Does anyone build actual “starter homes” anymore (1500 sq ft, ranch, siding, 3/2, builder grade everything, 1/4-1/2 acre yard)?
To me this is the problem in the housing market.

Probably but is the status quo working? If young people don't see a future then the working class will continue to check out.
