I know Sheridan has thinned himself out with a bunch of tv shows, but this looks really good.

It's incredible how the rest of the country will now belive a Landman is some kind of oilfield gangster/fixer because of this show.

In reality, they are holed up. In old city courthouses digging through deeds and land records to find out who owns a tract that will probably end up being a dry hole anyway.

They are also on the road like 200 days/yr going to small county after small county in search of untapped leases.

They go to the drilling site like twice a year, maybe, to talk to the owner of he is out there. They're home base is actually a city corporate HQ high rise or small town satellite office that resembles a construction trailer.

It's one of the most crucial jobs, yes, but, also quite an unsexy research position in the oil business.

I know, right! I just texted my buddy that Billy Bob Thornton is playing him in a new tv show.

How much stuff can Sheridan make, holy shite he has about 8 tv shows / movies all going at the same time, has to cut into the quality.

i am ready for the origin story

Texas Tech grad that drank way too much lone star for 5.5 years, no girlfriend to drag them to dallas or Houston, living out of a car filled with empty dip cans and full spitters

Yep and instead of spreading them out he’s has them all come out the same time. Pretty dumb

I worked in the oil field years ago and actually had a good friend that got caught in a fiery blowout, he lived but was F'ed up for awhile.

I think the "Landman" name is a stretch like someone mentioned above, the landman is probably the least involved person in the rodeo.

The Company Man is the one rolling in the money and acting a fool.

I will be all over this

Nah…that would be the company’s corporate engineer. Telling the field and production ops baws how the thing should be designed and constructed while he’s been to the field so few times he has to buy new FRCs each time he heads out because the ones he wore last time don’t fit.

Probably depends on the role of the Landman. Some in their roles are never out on the grounds either, meanwhile some are eating dinner at the landowner’s ranch house and will even help round up cattle that his employer or its contractors may have caused to get lose by keeping a gate open or letting the cattle guards get too damn full.

He killed Yellowstone trying to stretch himself to create all the new shows. YS basically went into stasis the last 2 seasons with nothing of real importance happening.

I understand its original work so there's no path to follow, but the latter seasons of Yellowstone and all of his new shows feel aimless, regardless of how well acted they are. Everything just feels like time wasting to get through to the next season for a payoff that never materializes.

It's a shame because the acting quality and settings are great, but the story is lacking.

Jon Hamm looks like he’s playing Don Draper in 2024.

My guess is his big contract with Viacom/Paramount/CBS had some kind of time parameters on it, and that's why all his projects were so rushed.

Either that, or he wanted to plow through the original deal so he could sign an even more lucrative one sooner.

Regardless of the reason, he creatviley bankrupted himself because of that multi-project deal.

Yellowstone and this new Landman show should probably all be either feature films or miniseries at most.

He has proven time and again that he has about 1-2 seasons worth of good ideas, then the show should end. But then he extends tnem out another 3-4 yrs because of the $$ and ends up ruining the original poeduct

I mean come on. Really? Did everybody think all archaeology professors secretly traveled the word battling Nazis while searching for ancient religious artifacts?

Coming to bump this. Just saw an ad for.

Sheridan has been a huge letdown lately, but this looks really good. Jon Hamm and Billy Bob, great casting in my opinion.

Streaming November 17.
