Delta single handle kitchen faucet issue

I had a small leak at the base, so I purchased a rebuild kit from Delta (not a cheap Danco). I swapped all the parts, and now I have a bit of water hammer. The pressure also fluctuates. Any thoughts on a remedy? Or why simply changing the bad seals caused this?

Following. I swapped a seal on my bathroom shower hot water handle and experienced the same thing. I haven't messed with it since because it works but it's annoying.

Water hammer usually happens when shut off quickly. Maybe try shutting it off slower.
Check the screen on the faucet, it may have picked up some trash.

Make sure you opened up the wall valves all the way.

shite. mine are behind the tile so unable to access.
i think the shower spigots are 1970s vintage; they are separate instead of the single knob that controls both but bathroom reno is not in the cards for me right now. i bet anything the 'old' o-ring was more forgiving or just more in sync w/ the valve than the brand new 2024 one. its also a bit harder to turn than the old one.

A shower may not even have valves. I thought you were talking about a sink. Only time I had hammering was when I simply didn’t open them up all the way though. Probably went months before I finally researched it and figured it out.

i'm not the OP
i just hijacked his thread a bit to share i had a similar experience. your advice still applies for his sink and yes, that makes sense there's probably not a valve, just pipes behind the wall in the shower.

Will check this. The valves under the sink are completely open.

It’s not that sort of water hammer, it’s fine when turning off. While running, the water has a pulsing to it with the obnoxious noise to go with it. Not a steady pulse like a machine gun, but bursts here and there. Sink was fine before.

I had bathtub faucet hammer fixed by a plumber replacing the mixing cartridge. A hammer and pressure fluctuation point to the mixing cartridge.
I'm not familiar with the Delta kit. Did it include a cartridge or just seals?
If you did replace the cartridge, the new one may be faulty. If you had to move the old one during the seal change, it may have reseated improperly.

Almost sounds like air in the line. My water dispenser on fridge does that for a while after changing the filter.

It’s seals and other small parts. The ball is the inner part that the handle pivots to turn on and go from hot to cold.

It’s behaving just like that, but won’t go away no matter how long you run the water.

Interesting, the mixing valve is integral to the faucet and not a replaceable cartridge.
There's a good video: LINK
It has a caution about correct parts and part orientation that may apply to your situation.
Good luck.

Delta has lifetime warranty on their stuff. They should have sent you anything needed free of charge. I’ve used this a few times to replace parts or even whole fixtures that went bad. If they don’t make it anymore, they will send you an updated version.

I am hoping to Reno our shower.
The flooring installer is the one that built the shower. The floor is river gravel glued in roughly (it will literally cut the bottom of your feet) and 2 rocks have already come loose.
The water control is a single handle that cannot be adjusted but very very slightly or the water turns cold and you have to completely restart it as it will not warm again just turning it up. Because of the failure to adjust, I DESIRE 2 handles for control (any future residence it will be required).
The built in seat is too far away from the rain flow shower head and is a triangle of marble in the corner preventing placement of a shower chair for elderly mother and when I am too sick to stand. Plus it is not angled to drain at all thus holding a small puddle in the corner.
The ledge forming the bottom of the interior wall (glass panel) and door also is not angled at all to drain drips/splashes into the shower floor. The result is some baseboard rot at the edges of the shower from water escaping.
Moral of the story:
Don’t let the floor guy install the shower.

If you have a spray nozzle at your kitchen sink, the hammering might be originating from the nozzle. Work the nozzle a few times. If that doesn't work, try installing a new nozzle. They are cheap. The Danco nozzle works fine for me.

BUT... is the floor nice? A shower bottom made of glued river gravel hurts to even think about.
My bath reno story isn't nearly as impressive... the stone counter guy did the shower tiling. To get a nice uniform look to the room, he made 3 shower corner shelves from the same granite used on vanities and tub deck.
To install them in the shower, a slot was ground into the shelf edges and the tile wall. "Biscuits" were made by slicing large washers in half.
The installation looked great for 15 years. 1st, an orange stain appeared at the wall edge of the granite shelves. 2nd, on some shelves the stained area spoiled off (broke). 3rd, the shelves fell on the shower floor. Of 3 shelves, two have broken and fallen. Once the 3rd falls I have a fix made.
What happened? The reno was done when the hardware market was full of Chinese fake stainless steel. Maybe the installer thought he had used stainless. Or he didn't know that he needed stainless in the wet environment.
The cheap washers rusted and swelled so much that they popped the granite. Gravity did the rest.

100% agree here. I have all Delta fixtures and had to replace or fix them over the years and I went directly to Delta about it. They were super easy to work with and even troubleshot it to make sure they were sending the correct parts or new fixture at no charge to me. I'd email or call them and they'll make it right.
