but he has a conservative/play not to lose philosophy. if he was aggressive and confident in our qb we would've put the game away and won.

it looks like 9-3 forever right now, unless he gets lucky.

Kind of a stupid take. He went for it on fourth goal from the three in the first quarter. That was after converting a fourth down around mid field on the same drive.

He went for it on a similar fourth and goal situation against FSU last year, and took out Alabama in 2022 with a 2 point conversion in overtime.

Kelly deserves to be ridiculed for a LOT of shitty decisions and not having his team mentally ready to play last night.

But you totally lost me with this criticism.

Kelly is obviously a proven winner and had two nice seasons coming into a tough situation with how many players we had when he first got here.

But he clearly needs to change something with our off-season prep because we have just looked off in our first game under him every season. And he made the same mistake this year with taking away momentum from us by not taking 3 easy points to go up early in the game. For what he is getting paid, I do expect better with not repeating the same mistakes in early season games.

He's going to end up with the same epithet as Charlie McClendon - couldn't win the big games

Coach O lacked in discipline but would have them ready to run through a brick wall the whole game.

I don't know what BKs problem, recruiting is there, what's he not preparing these cats for?

I think BK was a good hire given the state of the program he took over.

He stabilized things and got us back on a good trajectory.

But after last night, I have no confidence that he can take the next step and get us to championship level.

At this point I’m just hoping 9-3 for this season.

I’m not being dramatic, I fully anticipate losing game 1 unless it’s a cupcake. We just can’t suit up in game 1. Sure we can figure some stuff out, but now we have no shot at making the playoffs because there is NO WAY we finish the season with only 2 losses. OM, Bama and OU are going to be at least 2 losses.

I did not see a 10-2 team last night. I saw an 8-4, 9-3 if we execute perfectly, type team.

Not saying they looked completely unprepared, but they didn't appear prepared enough.

Our O-line blocking for the run game was not good (especially at crucial times) and they are supposed to be the #1 O-line in America. We got a delay of game coming out of a timeout. We had 10 penalties for 98 yards. We gave up 2 TDs on D in the 4th quarter. We only scored 20 points against USC. If you had asked anyone on here before the game how they'd feel if LSU put up 20 for the game against USC, I think 95% of the people would say that would be a failure. In 3 season openers, the most LSU has scored under Kelly is 24 points. That's just not getting it done.

If we had thrown the ball all in the second half and still lost, people would be bitching that we didn’t play the clock game. The problem was our “elite” Oline got frickin handled in the run game

man, imo that wasn't aggressive. it was stupid. we couldn't run the ball and he insisted on that in the second half. Nuss was throwing well, we were moving the ball passing, and we didn't call pass plays the second half.

we blitzed most of the game with success and went prevent on the last series when all they needed was a field goal.

I have to respectively disagree with your take.

Which is what makes the second half play calling so puzzling

The quick run on 3rd and 1 was just beyond stupid. We had to have that first down and it was more important to get the right play even if we had to put the ball in the air.
