Credit Freeze - children

I have lifelock, and held off on freezing my credit because I was in the process of financing a major deal. But now with this major national public database breach, we have received notices that information on 2 of our 3 kids has been breached. We don't have credit monitoring on the kids yet, but I want to do that and freeze their credit now.
Anyone know the best route to go for this? I cannot find info on LifeLocks site about a family account, but is this something I can set-up through them? Any better companies for this?

You can freeze them all yourself online. I did ours a while ago when the DMV was breached. Just setup an account at all three and freeze them. Kids might involve something extra, I have not done one.

I got an alert today that my SSN was found on the dark web from that massive data breach. I have Equifax credit monitoring but was considering freezing mine too.

Just out of curiousity what's the worst that happens? How old are your kids? I mean if my 5 year olds credit is terrible does that really mean anything?
I'm not sure what the best thing to do is, but there's a company that's going to scare you to spend money one way or the other.

Was trying to be lazy and let one of those monitoring companies do it for me

I suppose the worst is they would get denied loans or get a ridiculous rate because of a shitty credit score. Then they'd have to go through the hassle of clearing the fictitious accounts and wait for them to come off of their credit reports then reapply. Had a buddy spend a few grand to clear his because his deadbeat dad ran his credit score into the ground, but not sure how much was paying someone to do it for him vs paying off some of the debts.

I think I used this information when the DMV was hacked.
I froze all of mine in 15 minutes online.
Crazy, when I was at LSU plenty of professors would post grades outside of their classroom using our full social security number. Different world

Same at UNO, but the administration would legitimately get pissed if you referred to it as a SS# and would correct you and say it's your student ID number.

Everyone should freeze their credit is the right answer. We learned this after our personal information was stolen and attempts were made by the thieves to get credit cards.
Having Lifelock or any other company monitoring your credit is definitely not enough, all they will do is tell you your credit was breached after it’s too late.
Call all 3 credit bureaus and lock your credit, otherwise it is susceptible to being stolen by someone else.
I’m not sure how they would handle your children’s credit but they can tell you.

Here are the instructions on freezing a minor's credit through Equifax, Experian and Transunion.
You’ll need to gather up COPIES of –
- Your driver’s license (1 copy, I only needed that for Experian)
- A piece of mail that shows your current address (e.g., a utility bill or a bank or insurance statement) (1 copy, I only needed that for Experian)
- Your child's birth certificate (3 copies)
- Your child's Social Security card (3 copies)
- Your Social Security card (3 copies)

I froze mine about two years ago. Then I bought a house. It was easy as 1, 2, 3 logging in and unfreezing it, then freezing it again after the credit application process was finished.
Get a subscription with each of the reporting agencies. I am sure you can freeze it another way, but I am all about convenience and found this to be simple to do.

There was a law a few years ago that was supposed to automatically freeze children’s credit by default
