Time to tax the wealthiest preachers/pastors?

With the price of everything out of control, I would love to see some of the richest preachers finally pay their share. People like Kenneth Copeland and his tax-free house in Fort Worth, appraised at $7 million this year alone. Same goes for Jesse Duplantis in New Orleans and many others.
"Tax records show that the mansions of Kenneth Copeland and Jesse Duplantis are owned by their churches, which qualifies them to be tax-free under the Parsonage Exemption. Some of America's most well-known megachurch pastors live in glamorous multimillion-dollar mansions".

This is dumb, you don’t think pastor's/preachers don’t pay taxes? I’m sure the big names use tax shelters no differently than any other intelligent person that makes a lot of money.

pretty sure preachers are taxed.
The value of provided housing is subject to FICA tax but not income tax.
Otherwise, they pay income tax on all salary and benefits.

I don't know, but I do know they don't pay for dry cleaning.

their churches should be treated like any other business.

so following the laws as it is written and using the full advantage the tax code as it is written to pay their taxes?
I fail to see the issue here.

Yep, never enough taxes to take so we can make that utopia I hear everyone talks about us being so close to.

How about we just actually cut the govt spending and the need for more taxes instead of creating means to regulate which churches exist

Easy. Provide a property tax exemption up to the median price of that county.
Tax anything over that.
Tax anything over that.

It'd be ideal but as it stands now it's kind of chickensh*t that they get away with it.

But I agree with you yet officials from neither side ever mentions it.

I was in a wedding with a mega church pastor about 10 years ago. His name was Rich Wilkerson. Man he was a frickin douche.
