Nickelback
If this band comes up in a convo it's typically in a disparaging manner. I swear nobody likes Nickelback if you ask them.
And then you start googling album sales and see that these baws have done sold 50 million + albums.
Idk man, something ain't adding up. I feel like there are a lot of closet NB fans out there.

I realized that, it's a key tenet of what I was saying. Billions of people give 0 fricks about the Beatles, elvis, mj, taylor swift, whomever. Enjoy whatever you want, because most people won't.

By a weird coincidence, I ate dinner with/beside Chad Kroeger both of us sitting at the bar in a crowded restaurant in Miami in 2000. I had no idea who he was and the what do you do question elicited a simple "I am in a band" response. I just assumed he was in a local band. We ate, bullshitted, and bought each other drinks until we both went on our way. I mentioned to my wife I ate with a guy named Chad while discussing my day on the phone with her that night and thought nothing of it. About a year later after Silver Side Up exploded we were sitting and watching something on TV and they were on playing How You Remind Me and I told my wife that is "The Chad" from Miami.
I always liked their music as formulaic as it was. I couldn't help being a fan because of our interaction and how he was not interesting in trying to come across as a Rockstar.
Speaking of Rockstar I don't know how anyone can watch the Rockstar video on not smile. It isn't the pinnacle of rock but it is a fun time. They got "internetted" because of overexposure which was a result of people at least not hating them before, it just became fashionable to hate them and then they became the meme for band hate.
