Is there some context for this?

He is old, rich, and gives zero fricks.

Did you miss the shitshow after hurricane Beryl rolled through Houston?

You would think the federal govt would have much better resources in place to restore power in these areas with all hands on deck especially in a city the size of Houston and with all the disasters that have happened since Katrina.
I realize you have utility companies that still come in from all over but even that's not enough and those workers are facing angry customers.
Some of it is all these food companies that profit off the govt with these disasters by bringing in their mobile kitchens while getting paid millions. They have no incentive for power to be restored quickly.

What companies are you talking about? Name them so we can harass them on social media.
Houston was just a little out of our area, but we never charge anyone for our meals. We accept donations from anyone who wants to give but stuff like this gives people like me a bad name.

He opens his furniture store during hurricanes to all, who may sleep or relax wherever they wish. Keeps them fed as well. No charge, just one of many charitable endeavors of his over the years.
Great man who cares about his community and quietly spends money that proves it.
I'm with Mack.

What rock have you been living under?
Several million people in Houston area were without power for over a week when hurricane beryl came to town
It was literally like a third world country
Centerpoint energy owns all of the transmission lines and substations in and around Houston
Lineman came from surrounding states to come help restore power and centerpoint was so disorganized, many of them sat in parking lots for days waiting for instructions on where to go and what to fix
to call it a total colossal frick up is an understatement
Two top executives have already been fired, and mattress Mac is calling for the Board to fire the CEO next
In terms of incompetence, it was a close second to the Trump assassination fiasco

I’m still baffled by this whole thing.
The Houston metro area was hit by category 1 hurricane and expected power to be restored within a day or two to 7 million people.
Maybe we’re just used to it in Louisiana and the bar is in hell at this point, but I would’ve expected 3 days before the earliest power would’ve been restored. These fools were losing their minds after 24 hours.

I live in Tennessee and this was barely a blip on the news. I had forgotten about it.
