A client of mine is a firefighter, and he said that the the fastest growing cause of house fires are cheap knockoff Amazon purchased chinese made Lithium batteries.

Yup. I make some stuff out of used NMC cells but they’re all industrial or EV grade. Wouldn’t touch the junk they put in e-bikes and other toys. Also would only recommend LiFePO4 to anyone inexperienced.

It appears to be real and happened in China in 2021. There's a similar incident in China that had a battery, still in the bike, blow in an elevator full of people that also happened in 2021.
