We have the sickest kids on the face of the earth. If you want to know why, I’d suggest listening to RFK Jr or Del Bigtree or Aaron Siri. But anyway, what can we do as individual parents? First, you need to accept that the diagnosed conditions are merely the tip of the iceberg, and that probably all of our kids carry inflammation and damage to some degree. Aside from the normal dietary and exercise advice everyone gives, here are some supplement ideas I’ve researched and that I’ve applied to my 8 yo daughter to very positive effect. I offer this because the future belongs to them, and how that future looks depends on their health. We can change this world, one child at a time.

1) NAC - it boosts glutathione which helps chelate metals and toxins out of the body. It is also a potent antioxidant on its own. Studies and a plethora of anecdotes show it improves autism symptoms. More and more science is showing that mental issues are inflammatory conditions of the brain.

2) Vit K2 - very hard to get through diet alone. It steers calcium to its appropriate destination leading to stronger bones and more defined and strong facial features, like the mandible. Calcification of soft tissue is a major problem, and if you’re kid is drinking fluoridated water, then it’s even more of a problem for him/her.

3) Vit D3 - surely everyone knows about this by now. It’s arguably the single most important micronutrient. As our kids spend more and more time indoors, supplementing this is a no-brainer.

4) B vitamins - white flour is fortified with them but it isn’t enough. They play huge roles in metabolism, cell formation, cognition, and growth and development. I let my kid enjoy a Body Armor periodically. I tried a B complex pill, but it upset her stomach.

5) Omega 3s and healthy fats generally - the human brain absolutely requires fish to function optimally. Eat fish or supplement. Also, the biggest lie this world ever told was that fat is bad and that it doesn’t matter which you eat. PUFAs in seed oils are terrible for your kid. Steer their diet back toward animal fats. The more healthy fat you can get into their bodies, the more they’ll fire on all cylinders.

6) Probiotics with inulin - the science is now settled that leaky guts result in sewage getting into your liver and blood resulting in inflammation. You have to protect and repair their gut wall. The friendly bacteria help restore the microbiome, and the polysaccharides in the inulin feed the friendly bacteria. Andrew Wakefield once said that the gut is the seat of the soul. It is lined with neurons that communicate with your heart and brain.

7) Vit C above RDA - I believe the RDA is the amount needed to prevent disease. But Vit C at higher doses is a potent antioxidant that will scavenge for free radicals.

The thing about this approach is that these are all molecules (vitamins and amino acids and fats) that the body absolutely knows what to do with. Please consider being proactive with your child’s health. Keep them away from allopaths, unless there is a genuine need for a pharmaceutical or some procedure. Let’s fix this world by fixing the kids. Good luck.

An even better start would be to guide and educate your kids on diet. Instead of buying sugary cereals, sweets, and sodas, buy them fruit, eggs, meat, whole grains, etc.

We have a two year old. Daily diet consists of eggs, avacados, berries, some form of meat. Snacks can be berries, trisquits, etc. We haven't introduced sweet drinks as he's perfectly content with milk and water. On occasions when we are swamped with other family duties, he gets maybe some nuggest for lunch. Ice cream is also a treat although he doesn't like to eat much of it either because of the sweetness or something else.

A balanced diet is much more beneficial that giving you kids 10 vitamins a day.

EDIT: IMO

This is the way.

Buy the best eggs you can, which doesn't mean ecoUltraOrganic. I can get Texas eggs (Kenz Henz) with dark arse yolks at every H-E-B I've been to been to that wasn't in the sticks. Grass fed meat is everywhere now, it's not very hard.

I let my first kid know protein was the way (second kid harder to manage, but that's for another day.) When not traveling, his breakfast is two eggs in grass fed butter (I have to hide some cheese in it,) a third of a kielbasa (Hillshire Farms, no care,) two corn tortillas and Tabasco. That's 29/30 days a month, and it's what he wants. I also have no issue with him wanting a double meat adult Whataburger after practice (no cheese, only mustard and lettuce, for some reason,) because he essentially ignores the fries.

Especially for girls, you don't want to start creating rituals around nutrition (pills, etc) , which may turn into a level of OCD later in their childhood that would shock you. One of my grandfathers lived outside of SF after he got out of the Navy in the 50s? He was taking (IIRC) close to 15 supplements a day in his 70s because he got suckered into one California health fad after another. These weren't blood pressure meds, it was milk thistle this, and eye of newt that, etc. He also thought he could find water with divining rods, and answer questions with crystals.

only supplements most kids need are protein( i consider food), creatine for muscle and brain health and a good multi vitamin.

vit k2 is something that would be good too but man overall that becomes a lot for kids

instead focus on teaching them good eating habits. make them understand the difference between the different macros and be able to identify them as foods.

teach them why protein is so important and how to cook

make them understand what to eat where they ask for it

example....my kids ask for eggs, bacon or sausage(uncured bacon and homemade deer sausage) and usually combine that in a tortilla for their carb source. We use good eggs and add good culture cottage cheese to the eggs to up protein. we add dubliner sliced cheese to it and use primal kitchen mayo. oldest will add 8oz fairlife milk

sure it has the tortilla and sometimes we use shredded cheese or regular mayo but the key is they are getting plenty of high quality protein. this is by far the most important thing.

for the oldest who is going to 8th grade...trying to get him around 1000 calories here for breakfast. he is 5'8 165

middle kid is going to 6th grader is 5'1 110 and try and get him 750 calories

3rd grader who is 60 lbs just trying to get him to eat 20g protein and around 4-500 calories

both need 40g+ protein no matter what here

if they want something else, we can do magic spoon protein cereal with fairlife milk or cinnamon toast crunch and have a fairlife 42 g protein shake. other thing we may do is premier protien pancakes that are from sams

in the end they are still kids, not going to be crazy with them. they take creatine here

for lunch i make the older kids 8oz of meat with some rice or potatoes, middle gets 4oz, usually a piece of fruit too

they usually eat some type of meat with a carb source right when they get home, usually before a practice of some kind

for dinner usually do meat and some type of carb source and veggies. This is steak ~3 nights a week, sometimes hamburgers, sometimes chicken breast
then they drink a protein shake before bed or eat a ratio greek yogurt

in the end the last people you should be listening to are the people you listened unless they can sight the sources of the study. these are the same people that claim IF has some kind of magic to it, that carbs are the devil etc etc

the key is teaching kids to enjoy whole foods, how to cook them and how to count calories, macros etc for each goal not shove them full of supplements.

Start by meeting the guidelines for exercise and go from there.

Build a strong base of actual food intake that includes naturally occurring vitamins and minerals

Lay off the stops and pills

Encourage fun and active play/ exercise

Exercise with your kids

No need for supplements. Make them bacon and eggs in the morning. Steak or pork chops for supper. Maybe fruit for treats. All the nutrition they need

Perfect example of problem with America: too god damn medicated. Everyone wants a pill or some over the counter cure. Just focus on good quality foods, rest, and emotional support.
