LSU notes it’s hot pursuit of Phillip Wright 88 grade WR who just committed to Michigan.

Supposedly has speed to burn.

If we can flip.. that gives us 3 WR in the class.

Should we stop there ??

Nope. 4 seems to be the number. Ffrench is tops. Lockett is there but that one has faded. But with Lockett you never know. I think he plays games.

We will be losing Daniels, Lacy, Hilton, Thomas and possibly Anderson this year to either the portal or draft. After that, there still may be some loss to the portal. That leaves us with maybe Sampson, Parker, Watkins and Billiot. Who knows who develops and who doesn’t. We will need at least 4 WR’s in this class and possibly some portal guys for experience.

Hilton Jr is a Rs/Jr. Doesn't have much film. Hasn't played. Different than Maason Smith, he doesn't have measurables aside of speed that jump off the page. I think we get him as a Sr. I hope he balls out this year, and makes me eat crow, but he seems to be a guy that needs to prove it, twice.

Sounds like we’re hearing Ffrench and Lockett are a lost cause.

I know we’ll be fine at the position and grabbing Meadows is huge, but it is odd that our track record at WR speaks for itself, and we have the #1 QB coming in for 2025 and still elite guys would rather go elsewhere.

It’s just weird we don’t see more WRs flocking here like OSU considering we actually put guys in the league. Guys that become elite NFL players at that.

Where are you seeing that about Ffrench and Lockett? I think Lockett isnt happening but have seen a lot of buzz about both recently here.

Why not flip Wright and Washington?

We have a shot at Ffrench. Will take him and Wright and call it a day there.

Not sure about Lockett, but I keep seeing Ffrench pop up in quite a few finished class predictions.

Ffrench will be here for Bayou Splash. I have more confidence LSU landing him over Lockett. I did know he had family in Louisiana but didn't know his mom was born in Baton Rouge.

The Louisiana Ties seem to be strong with him.

Ffrench + Wright are definitely the most popular names right now. Lockett to a lesser degree, Jerome Myles is getting tossed around a bit (he's supposedly going to visit this fall), and then I'm guessing it'll be based on who of that we get / senior evals from there (so guys like Washington, Zay Martin, etc.).

I think we have a chance with Ffrench but suspect its more b/c of Underwood than ties to La.
Maybe a one in three chance?
Certainly worth pursuing...

i think we lose Daniels, Lacy, and Hilton to the draft. If you're talking portal, any one or two of Sampson, Anderson, and Parker.

I 100% believe Thomas is coming back for his senior year. He'd be a surefire starter. Outside of that, Billiot and Watkins are most definitely back. Let's be on the cautious side and say we get only one of Sampson/Parker/Anderson back. That's only four. So we need at least 4 WRs in this class. That would give us a minimum of 8.

We’ll have to be WR shoppers in the portal more than likely this offseason. That’s even with us taking 4 receivers in the 2025 recruiting class.

Who said French and Lockett are a lost cause?

I’m actually hearing the exact opposite

"Michigan beat out SEC powers Georgia and LSU for Destrehan (La.) wide receiver Phillip Wright, a 10.46 100-meter sprinter." Got this from Michigan 247.

The LSU coaches, like all of us, were aware of the roster and which receivers might be gone to the NFL or the transfer portal after this season.

They also had to realistically understand that they weren't going to sign every elite out-of-state receiver they pursued. No one does.

So, unless they were just asleep at the wheel, they had to know there would still be room for Wright in this class. If they really want him, why are they just now turning up the heat in recruiting him?

Maybe they will flip him, but it seems like a foolish strategy if they really liked him and there was room in the class for him. Some kids absolutely want to play for LSU no matter what, but others may be turned off when they feel they are just a backup plan.

I have no idea which way Wright leans on that, but if LSU really wants him, their strategy seems risky.
