Summer League - Who do you want to see ?

Happy Independence Day, friends.
With summer league starting soon, who are you most interested to see ? The ESPN article which listed the rosters didn't have any names for the Pelicans.
Does anyone know if Karlo is attending ? If so, he's the one I would be most interested watching.

Hawk and Missi. Want to see what progress Hawk has made with getting stronger and holding his own on defense. Also will be interesting to see what kind of production he will put up on offense when he’s the guy. Missi is the obvious one, considering he might be our starting center next year lol, or at least a highly contributing player.

I'd love to see Karlo, but he seems to have vanished off the radar.
Seriously, I've been asking around, but it's just total radio silence even though we're talking 24/7 about filling out the front court.
Does anyone know anything about his status??

I've been looking too. It's strange. All indication is that he was going to be a part of the team this upcoming season. Otherwise why bring him over in the middle of his season in europe to play in the G league? He even played really well in the G league.
He then randomly signs with a euro team like a month ago with no reporting as to why
My total guess is that he got homesick and realized he would rather play in europe.

I want to see if Hawk has developed any on ball game. We know his off ball game is NBA level but to take it to the next level he needs to be able to handle the ball, create advantages and make smart passes.
I would love to see some Hawk and Missi 2 man game
As far as Missi, I need to see him dominate the boards. No reason that a guy with his size and athleticism should have rebounded that poorly in college. Other than that, if he can hit his FTs at a good % that would be promising

Karlo did look good in Birmingham. 17/9 as I recall with about 1.5 blocks per.
Moreover he was athletic, bouncy, ran the court well and had a nice looking jumper.
He really seemed like a guy who was ready to get a good look in the big leagues. Strange is the word.
I'm not sure him signing to play in Europe is dispositive, but I guess that would depend on when/were he's set to play.
I just wish one of our beat reporters would get the straight dope on what is up with him. Again, all we are doing is talking about how the Pels will fill out the front court. Seems his name would at least come up...

I want to see how our two draft choices stack up.

Is Liam Robbin’s still with us? I was excited for him last year but he got hurt. SEC DPOY, can shoot 3 and moves really well. Pelicans need to release their summer roster already

Did he sign or his europe rights just got traded? I wasn’t clear on that. They could trade his rights without him going to play there.

When an NBA team signs a foreign guy, they have two years to sign him to an NBA (not G-League) contract, or they then forfeit his rights.
We no longer have exclusive rights to sign Karlo. He could sign with any NBA team that wanted him. Unfortunately, I don't think that there are any NBA teams that do.

That's legit surprising. I'm no scout but to my eye he looked mobil, fluid and pretty skilled at 6'10" 230-240. Hard to believe he couldn't soak up 10-15 minutes a night as a back up big in the NBA...

Yep he looked pretty good in the g league. Wouldn’t mind him as the 3rd string power forward and let him spend time in the g league.
Very strange situation

Here's a long article on Karlo after the trade deadline had passed talking about how he fit into the Pels longterm plans. Since then, bupkus...

Brief update on Karlo. Finally got a beat writer to weigh in. Chris Dodson covers the team for Forbes and wrote the earlier piece on Karlo that I linked to calling him a potential 'secret weapon" off the bench for the Pels next season.
Here's what he said about Makovic's status with the Pels:
-I have little reason to believe Karlo is in the plans now.
-As I understand it: Decent in the G but might make more with a Spanish team. That and he might not quite be an NBA rotation guy even with the decent G tape.
He also said things could change as a lot of things remained in motion for the Pels.

Thanks all for your responses ... very thought provoking.
Appreciate all the research and update on Karlo. I have to think that if he has decided against the NBA, he is missing an opportunity. I suspect he would be a candidate for at least a back up role considering we have lost Larry, EJ, and Jonas.
One name came up that intrigues me .... Liam Robbins. If he is healthy, he might be a 2nd or 3rd centre.
Have a great weekend everybody.

Well, another day another Karlo update, via Dodson twitter...
I now have more reasons to believe Karlo Matkovic WILL be with the Pels in Vegas.
Nothing confirmed yet though. Lots of moving parts with these expanded deals.
Rights to Karlo worth about the same as EJ imo.
