Have a family vacation in the next couple weeks and will be flying out of MSY on a Monday morning. Thinking about spending the night in NOLA at a hotel near the airport and taking a shuttle so don't have to worry about traffic and/or parking. Do you know of any hotels near MSY that offer free parking for a few days if you spend a night? If not free, is it feasible to pay to leave it at the hotel or would you drive to one of the parking lots. I'm thinking for convenience just leaving it there if the price isn't astronomical. Thoughts?

Lafayette area. Trying to save having to drag the kids out of the house at 2am for a 2 hour drive and may go do a few things around NOLA the day before.

I wouldn't leave my car at a hotel I'm not staying at once you checkout
Go park at one of the shuttle lots and take the shuttle to airport if you don't want to pay for parking at the airport itself

We've had a few conferences at the Holiday Inn on Veterans in Kenner. Our out of town speakers always use their shuttle to the airport. I think they also allow guests to leave cars at the hotel for a few days.

quote:

Our New Orleans Airport hotel features amenities designed for the frequent traveler including complimentary high-speed Internet, complimentary airport shuttle, parking, fitness center, outdoor pool and microwaves and refrigerators in all guest rooms.

The Hilton on Airline right across from the old terminal used to have a free shuttle and could leave your car. Not sure if they still have it

I would not risk parking at a hotel you've checked out of. Most hotels will also say they're not responsible for anything during your stay.

US Park is quick and nearby for about $15/day. I don't like the MSY parking service because it is far away if you can't get the nearby lots and they take their time transporting.

It's also worth mentioning that US Park does offer big discounts on first time users if you go to their website and make a reservation. 5+ days will net you a steep discount as far as I know.

When you're done not being able to find clear pricing with US Park take a look at MSY economy. More shuttles running than US Park and covered parking so you're protected from the rain and if it's not raining, your car is out of the direct sun. There is also the option to check your luggage right there at the parking lot for some airlines.

Shuttles load in less than 5 minutes and take less than 15 minutes between departure and arrival.

When was the last time you tried economy? There are clear advantages to US Park

It's 3 miles further from economy (travel time is less than 15 minutes) but they have more shuttles (departing faster s and more regularly), almost all covered parking at no additional cost, transparent pricing and the ability to check luggage for some airlines.

Have left car at Hilton and been fine. They offer 7 days free parking for one night stay. Many flight crews stay there so shuttles are frequent.

The Hilton on Airline is the nicest one.
