From the first data for 2024 that WLF posted, I have tried to get someone to explain how 17% of the annual quota was caught in a week in which weather kept all but the biggest boats in port from Venice to Cameron all but a day or two. I cannot get anyone to address what I believe is erroneous data. The reported catch was higher than the first week of June when seas were flat and anyone with a bayboat or bigger hammered them.

Welp, today they used this “data” to announce that the season will be curtailed to weekends only after this weekend. I’m pretty sure that the same people that count late night votes cast in Orleans Parish are counting snapper.

Do I need to return to boycotting red snapper at New Orleans restaurants?

Meh, doesn’t bother me. I can only fish on the weekend any way. I’m happy we can keep 4 fish at this point. Plus, I like a fall season as well, beats melting on the boat in the summer months.

Go ahead and factor out 120 more fish that were confiscated today. 6 guys cited with 97 of them under the limit

Does that count against our quota? Serious question.

Fines of $350 each for being 97 fish over the limit? That sounds like a good deal.

Authorities did not specify which suspects are undocumented immigrants.

Need to fine for each fish over the limit.

350x97= 33,950 in fines.

Definitely a huge payday for wildlife and fisheries.

If you go fishing that far offshore I am pretty sure that boat is worth more than the fine.

If they can’t pay, seize the boat. Then you start sending a message don’t over fish.
