I’d like to get a few hose and reels for the exterior of my house.

Can anyone offer any guidance or suggestions for sturdy, non kink, and overall ease of use?

Best hose reels, Eley LINK, buy once, cry once, but the quality is unsurpased. I own two. I understand their hoses are just as good but I don’t own one.

I use Flexzilla hoses, and been extremely happy with them. They are truly kink-free, pliable in winter, and durable. LINK

I also use Flexzilla. Hose reel would be Eley.

We use this one by liberty for about $100.
Amazon
Swivel joint will leak momentarily, never constantly. Swivel is $15 on Amazon and oring is a dollar at ace. Rest of it seems super sturdy.
You will want super aggressive brick anchors though because of the smaller wall mount plate.
Hose I have no clue. That’s why I made a thread last week. Got a flexzilla leader for my mist system this week then glued PVC the rest of the way. Using $30/100ft “contractor grade” Home Depot hoses right now and had to take one of them back same day. I can tell you I was super disappointed in my flexon hose falling apart after three years but extremely impressed how they honored their warranty.

I like the Hoselinks I have. Not cheap, but worth it IMO.

Love my Flexzilla hoses. I'm still shopping for reels because I can't bring myself to pay Eley prices and I need 2 of them.

Another vote for flexzilla. I’ve had several hoses over the last few years and this one seems to be holding up better. Plus I like the swivel grip connections

Got a Michelin hose from HD few months ago, been very pleased. Truly is kink-free, so far so good. I can't speak to longevity yet but seems to be good quality.

Those of you with a flexzilla hose and an eley reel, any issues? I thought I read that Eley doesn't recommend aluminum fittings and I think Flexzilla fitting is aluminum am I right?

Flexzilla:
quote:

Anodized aircraft aluminum ends

Eley FAQ:
quote:

No Aluminum Fittings! Avoid attaching any aluminum fitting to brass when possible due to galvanic corrosion. They will likely weld or fuse together over time, and you may not be able to separate them. We recommend brass, nickel-plated or stainless steel fittings. Lead-free brass delivers the best results.

I’ve had mine about 4 years and I don’t see any evidence of corrosion, but I understand the potential for electrolysis with 2 dissimilar metals with one being aluminum, but I’ll definitely keep this in mind now and observe. Buying the Eley hoses would avoid that - they are expensive but have little doubt they are excellent.

I have 3 Eley hose reels and 4 of their hoses. I use hoses a lot and I justified buying them when we built our house. I’ve also had Flexzilla hoses in the past. I liked them a lot and as an earlier poster mentioned, the swivel connections are nice. The plastic broke on one of mine though. I also had issues with them collecting mold over time. I would just spray them with Jomax when washing my house.

The Eley hoses are definitely a step up in quality compared to the Flexzilla, but they are more expensive.
