Let’s look at the numbers

12 double digit win seasons
Only 2 seasons below .500
3 undefeated regular seasons
.729 winning % in 20 seasons
30th in wins all time
12 all Americans, 1 Heisman winner

Now let’s compare those numbers to Les Miles

7 double digit win seasons
1 season below .500
1 undefeated regular season
.665 winning % in 18 seasons
74th in wins all time
10 all Americans

*worth noting that Les had 12 years with LSU’s resources and BK had 12 years with NDs resources*

Just for shits and giggles let’s throw O’s numbers up there.

2 double digit win seasons
3 seasons below .500
1 undefeated regular season (including national title)
.588 winning % in 10 seasons
Not ranked for wins all time at 114
8 all Americans, 1 Heisman winner

*worth noting that O’s first 3 seasons as HC he had limited resources at Ole Miss*

Les is more accomplished to this point. And ND has plenty of resources.

For sure. Kelly can retire today and he’s a first ballot HOF coach

No. LSU won that natty despite Les. Not because of Les. He did all he could to frick it up and they still somehow hoisted it at the end.

That explains all the national championships since 88.

Les had the luxury of sustaining what Saban built while Kelly had to rebuild what Orgeron tore down.

BK has 304 wins currently.
I believe that’s 13th all time (10 out of 13 are in the HOF)

So you're including Kelly's years at Grand Valley State, Central Michigan, and Cincinnati?

I think a more fair and accurate comparison would be Miles' 12 years at LSU versus Kelly's 12 years at Notre Dame.

Not if we’re talking comparison for HOF…

worth noting, in the 20 years prior to hiring Ed, only once did they only win as few games as O did in his best season there.

also worth noting, in the 16 years since firing O, only twice have they only won as few games as O did in his best season at Ole Miss.

or were those limited resources only an issue during those 3 years for that one guy, but not the other 8 guys and 36 years?

Meh, natty's don't tell the whole story to me. By the natty logic, Orgeron, Miles, Chizik, Coker and Jimbo are all better coaches than Kelly.

Kelly: zero championships

Saban at lsu: shared championship

Les: 1 championship (undefeated in regulation )

O: greatest championship of all time

So since dumbass Les won a Natty and dumbass O was lucky enough to have the greatest season ever, BK should be able to win one easily. He should have no problem because its apparently so easy a dumbass could do it.

Les inherited the best roster in college football.

O was lucky enough to have the greatest season ever

O inherited a great roster from Miles and did in fact have good fortune to happen to have Bill Busch on staff who had a connection with the Burrow family.

BK should be able to win one easily.

The rebuild that BK had to undertake was so much different than the situations O and Les inherited, it's almost not worth even discussing.

The roster O inherited had Fournette, Guice, Donte, Toliver, Malachi, Shaq White, Fulton, Devin White, Greedy, Jamal, Key, Gage, Beckwith, Godchaux, Clapp, Pocic, Lacoture, etc. That roster was loaded in 2016.

There was no shared championship. All teams, including USC, agreed to a method of choosing a unanimous champion, which turned out to be LSU.

This is somewhat true, but Les also had a team that was most accomplished of any team ever, that got screwed into a rematch and lost a championship he should have had. So it should balance out when you point out how lucky the 2007 season was.
