Taking the wife and daughter to NYC and wondering the best way to get car service. Would prefer to have a suv/limo rather than cab as there will be 4 of us with luggage. Flying into Laguardia and staying in mid town. Thanks.

Book private transport through Viator.

Right. I would just use Uber or Lyft and request a large SUV/Luxury vehicle.

Keep the head on a swivel in Times Square.
We went with an 8th grade class and across the street from Carlo's Bakery there was a bunch of Venezuelan Teens fighting and one was stabbed. We were all in a restaurant nearby when it occured and came out to crime scene tape.
Also watch out for pick pocketing Elmo.

Uber Black or blacklane. They will send a nice suburban or such.

It was a long ride w traffic last year when I went. Think I paid blacklane 185 bucks or so,

Just got back from NYC. I used Lyft from Laguardia to my hotel in the financial district and back. Got a Highlander both ways and paid around $75 with tip for each ride.

I found a deal with Fly Blade once for a helicopter ride from LaGuardia for $149, which worked out well with my flight arriving on Friday at 5pm. I had the entire flight to myself.

Depends what time of day it is. That can be a long ride.

IF it's just me, I cab to Astoria and grab the N/W train downtown. Might be a challenge with the whole family.

We went last year and I was terrified of the subway....but after a day I felt comfortable. I wouldnt want to do it lugging bags and such though.

The subway isn't that bad. In any big city you should know the areas of town to stay out of, subway or not.

Also the subways in major cities are a bit sketchier than they used to be given the recent cultural climate. Make sure to mind your business. At one time that meant be cool, now that means it doesn't matter if the guy next to you is getting robbed or beaten, STFU and keep to yourself.

Unfortunately this is true. Absolutely doesn't mean to stay away from the subways, just exercise increased vigilance.

Google maps is great with directing you to the subway. Its really amazing now. No more breaking out the map.

If going this route you can use Uber or Lyft Black SUV, doesn't matter what time of day or night you will have a ride and its the same drivers providing car service. What matters most is you will hit traffic and it will likely take an hour or more, so piss before you get in the car.

And not at all relevant to this thread, last time I was in NYC I made it from Delta gate at LGA to SoHo using transit in under 41 minutes during traffic rush hour. Was perfect storm of catching connector bus right outside of door terminal door, fast trip to station, and train arriving as soon as I entered station. Would have taken close to 1 hour 15 minutes or more in a car at that time of day.

Thanks Guys. We will be landing at 10:30 AM, so I am hoping that traffic won't be too bad.
