Someone is going to have to explain to me how this is a great addition. His numbers seem average and OF seems crowded.

Think Kling in the outfield but with an in conference batting average of .283 and not .189.

My guess is he thinks he can have a nice bounce back season much like Braswell when he came over from South Carolina. Improve his BA and power numbers with JJ coaching??

Odds are you’re about to lose Cooley + 1 of Paul or Frey. You need at least 1 or 2 OF if that happens. He was the highest ceiling available. He is draft eligible though with top 5 round grades so he probably doesn’t even make it here

No. Stanfield made 2 errors to Kling's zero. Kling also had more assists (3 to 2). Kling's strength was his defense.

Stanfield would be a significantly better hitter if he drew more walks and thats something Jay focuses a lot on and has generally been pretty good about developing in players

Average??? Any stolen bases, nothing jumps off the page. But, I trust JJ. If he wants him then he sees more than we can see in a BB player.

Baseball players don't have stars so I'm not sure what you think people are gazing at.
I had never heard of this guy until an hour ago. I never said he was a bad pick up, I just said that he had average numbers and our OF is getting crowded.
Others have added context such that he hit better in conference than his overall numbers indicate and that he is a great defensive OFer. Seems like a good player to take a chance on. Look at Braswell, he had average numbers and he was one of our best bats down the stretch.

It’s not really taking a chance. This kid has a very high floor and ceiling.
He’s a very significant upgrade over last years CF play.
