Had a lot of K’s vs Alabama in the regional? There was talk about him transferring to LSU last year but he never entered the portal I don’t believe?

Jacob Mayers I believe. He’s not in the portal. Also, he struggles with command.

Looks like 76 walks in 70 innings

One good outing doesn’t make you ready to step up and pitch for LSU.

If he gets in the portal, I can see him following Silva to Arkansas State

I see his stats. 39 hits and 106 strikeouts in 70 innings this year. But, as you said, 76 walks.

If he leaves I hope he doesn’t go to a power school with a good pitching coach. It would appear he has some potential.

He struggled big time with his control

You walk that many you won't last long in sec play

The rant wants every single player they see have one good game. That's all they need to know. And then they get to LSU and one bad game and those same people want them on the bench.

Some services had him as National Freshman of the Year, Freshman All American. If he wants to come he is a take. Yeskie could definitely help harness that tremendous potential.

He started every week on 2023 and was phenomenal. Not sure what happened to his control this year, but he still has SEC stuff.

I would hardly called this one good game…

LINK
“Mayers, a graduate of St. Amant, put together an impressive rookie season where he finished with a 9-1 record, a 2.02 ERA and 105 strikeouts. He allowed only 44 hits in 75.2 innings pitched for a .175 opponent batting average. He struck out a season-high 11 batters in his win over Louisiana Tech and closed out his freshman season with eight strikeouts in 5.2 innings against Alabama in the NCAA Regionals.
The honor adds to an already long list of accolades for the Colonels’ ace, who was named Southland Freshman of the Year, All-Southland First Team and SLC All-Tournament. Mayers, a semifinalist for the College Baseball Foundation Pitcher of the Year, was also one of two Colonels to be named to the Tuscaloosa Regional All-Tournament Team.“

He’s got the potential to be very good, but he’s going to need someone to help him develop. I feel like with NIL, the game is changing to where you’re looking for immediate impact players. Not really looking to invest in developing people anymore. I bet Jay told Paxton and Cam to go because they need development. It’s the way the game is going now.

He injured himself early 2nd inning in the wild Regional game vs UC Irvine.

Mike Silva is one of the best pitching coaches in the country. He’s the reason Mayers was exceptional his freshman season and stayed at Nicholls instead of transferring to a bigger program after last season.

I was told he even opted out of less NIL money to stay

he was a freshman AA. I brought him up on tRant on several occasions this year. He was referred to here in jest as Nolan Ryan 2 years ago. *eta guess technically only a year ago.

He had a soph. slump this year. Pretty terrible command that was expected to improve this year but it didn’t. Strikes out a lot of batters and walks a shitload of batters
