Getting young kids involved

My 5 year old is interested in golf, but doesnt really have attention span to put together a round, or even a complete hole for that matter. Thing is, brec rules against kids on course under 8 unless they have completed first tee, kids have to be 7 to do first tee. Anything younger and it’s driving range only. Now count how many driving ranges brec has.
Anyone have a different experience than this? I’d love to have my boy out in cart for a round just to get him exposure. What am I supposed to do?

Just bring him with you and let him drive from where your drive lands and chip and putt. Nobody is going to say anything. They had some kids playing with their parents at Clark today.

Stick his 3-4 clubs in your bag and just let him play when out of their view.

To clarify, they would not let him on the course at all. Maybe it was a two off scenario

Im in the mid-atlantic region but you may want to look into a program called youth on the course.
It's $20 to join but allows my son to play at several courses in our area for $5.
Usually he's not allowed on till after 2pm but there is never an issue getting him on. He's 5 years old as well.

I put a ball on the fringe, tell her it’s a par 4. She’s picking it up.

I would call Mike Raby first Monday morning. If they are going to make kids take a course prior to playing they should do the same for all the idiots that make playing BREC courses miserable.

Make water balloons.
Let him hit them with a club.

Just talk golf. See if you can get a player they start to like to watch.
Have them around the game.
Build coordination not just golf.
Get a club in their hands.
Create a fun environment.

As said above - have him break water balloons and get good at it - than engage the beat teacher in the area - and tell your son this will make him smash the water balloons better…
If your course doesn’t allow ir no need to skirt the rules - he’s very young - and if his attention span isn’t there no way to really force this other than make him hate the sport …
