So as the title indicates this is a 2 part thread

1st part: last year I bought a Craftsman 4 gallon 20V lithium backpack sprayer and have used it ever since and really like using it. Operationally it's a great sprayer. The problem is here last week it inexplicably started leaking out of these really small round holes in the bottom of it on all sides. They look like holes that were drilled into it at the factory? Maybe some sort of weird pressure relief valve in case the pressure gets too high? Idk I'm mind blown over it

2nd part: Anyways, assuming the sprayer is fricked which I'm sure it is what do yall recommend to replace it? Like I said I love this sprayer and if I got another one like it I'd benefit from the extra battery/parts off of this one but obviously if shite like this is going to happen I can't keep getting the Craftsman. At this point I'd spend $500+ on one I really don't care I just want something that won't break (for a while anyways)

I have the dewalt that looks just like that one and really like it. I hope it doest develop the problems you are having.

I'd contact manufacturer and try to get a replacement.

Looks like maybe the black housing with the hole is just that; a housing and not the tank. Maybe the tank is cracked and the water is finding its way out via the holes in the housing.

Yea i actually had that thought after i posted. The pump itself is likely in the housing so the pump could have a leak or crack and after that the housing isn't water tight

I mean there's no warranty on it, I could call them but does craftsman generally do that kind of thing? I wouldn't think so without warranty

So what is holding up the tear-down and finding out process?

I don't guess anything other than wanting to frick with it and it's still going to broke once I find out

mayyybbeeeeeee if I find a cracked pimp or something Craftsman would send me a new one but they prolly would make me at least pay for shipping and by the time I got the new one installed right (involving trial and error I imagine) and everything working again the $199 for a whole new sprayer at lowes is looking fairly appealing

Stop setting it up with herbicides in the tank. Spray until empty, rinse out with water, then clean tank. Add 1/2 gal pure ammonia and fill with water. Spray out the ammonia solution to clean out the pump and lines. The herbicides are destroying the seals in the pump. You need a new pump or a repair kit.

Always clean tank and lines after using herbicides.. it's a pain in the arse but has to be done.

Agreed - would be my next choice had I not gotten the one I linked above.

So here are the results of the much anticipated tear down.....

This stupid arse little flimsy rubber elbow has a pinhole in it

Wouldn't be that hard to replace except it appears to not be made for someone to work on at all. The one end is on with a clamp but it is seemingly made onto the pump so I guess I could see what the whole pump costs

Also trying to think of some sort of sealant that would hold to this kind of pressure but also stick to this flimsy shite

Quick look on craftsman website shows a 3 year limited warranty on the sprayer. It may be worth a call.

So long story short I got ahold of Craftsman which actually requires calling the Founatainhead group and they are sort of a PITA to get ahold of but once I did apparently this is a problem area for these sprayers and they've reengineered it to be a straight line so they sent me the new parts for free and now sprayer is good as new

Posting JIC anyone else runs into issues, it's worth the call
