4 day Colorado trip review, vail and red rocks

JRAD played vail and red rocks 6/1 and 6/2, so we made a little trip out of it and had a blast. This trip was pure leisure (no adventuring) and completely relaxing and hassle free. It did help that the weather was perfect
THU flew to Denver, rental, easy 2 hr drive to vail. We stayed 2 nights at manor vail, highly recommend. Beautiful grounds, ridiculously friendly staff and a great 1br suite/condo thing. Best part is the on site parking and it is right behind ford park and the amphitheater. Drinks at root and flower and dinner at la tour, both outstanding. La tour had the best French onion soup I have ever tasted.
Fri we walked around vail village for most of the day, wife hit the spa, and we had dinner at alpenrose, excellent sausages/kraut/schnitzel/beers and some extremely attractive staff persons in alpine wear. The amphitheater is world class…make it a point to go to a show there if that’s your thing.
Sat we got coffee and hit the road, back on 70 to Georgetown, Idaho springs and evergreen/kitteredge. Great towns, lots of folks having fun and great views. Lunch in Idaho springs at beau-jos pizza (very good). To the cabin on beaver creek, cabin at country roads. Beautiful 1br cabin on the creek, secluded and private and just gorgeous. Highly recommended. We cleaned up and headed to red rocks for night two.
We’ve finally cracked the code for us older folks after a half dozen shows there…park at the lower south lot and take a cab up to the top. Best 20 bucks I will ever spend. Once you’re in you can then decide whether to stay close to the top or go down. Either way, no climbing. After the show descend to the exit at stage right and it’s all downhill to the lot.
Sunday we slept in and enjoyed the cabin, then drove to dinosaur ridge for the tour. If you have dinosaur crazy kids they will love it. It’s very cool. Drinks and lunch at the rooftop bar in Morrison, just great. We met some friends in evergreen at the brewery and then packed it in
Easy drive back to DIA this morning and headed home.
Bang for the buck on this trip was as high as it’s ever been. Easy travel, first class rooms and eats and both areas are just spectacular

I just uber from the hotel bc I have zero intentions of driving after a Red Rocks show.
And even my much younger crew always bitches and moans when I propose we just walk to the top. I climb straight uphill for fun at higher elevations. Don't know what the complaints are about...
Was down there Thursday, had a storm in the background. Live music with lightning flashing constantly just over the red rocks that define the place. Epic.
I like Idaho Springs to stop and eat too.
Picked a great weekend to be up here.

we did the vail/red rocks thing once before but I got COVID and we had to miss the 2nd show. The two venues together are just about the best sequence you can ask for
I understand the Dillon amphitheater is also really nice. Obviously there’s good reason why we don’t have anything like that here and these beautiful venues are a great chance to travel

Last year, I had a fantastic trip to Vail, Colorado. I started my journey with our favourite provider, my private shuttle company, which took me directly from the airport to the mountains. The ride was comfortable, and I was excited to explore. Once I arrived, I hit the slopes for fantastic skiing and snowboarding. Vail is known for its incredible trails! Afterward, I strolled through Vail Village, admiring the charming shops and cozy cafés. The food was delicious. I enjoyed gourmet dishes and classic comfort food. One evening, I relaxed in nearby hot springs, soaking in the warm water while taking in the mountain views. I even enjoyed a scenic gondola ride that offered breathtaking landscape views. Every moment in Vail was unforgettable, and having a private shuttle made everything so easy. I can’t wait to return and experience it all over again!!!!!
