I felt exactly the same way at first, Deftones didn’t click with me in the beginning. Their music seemed kind of cold and hard to connect with compared to bands like Chevelle, but over time, certain tracks started to stand out. Minerva and Digital Bath were the ones that finally made me appreciate how they blend heaviness with these really dreamy, atmospheric parts. It definitely isn’t music that grabs you instantly unless you’re in the right headspace, but sometimes that moody, layered sound just works, especially late at night.
If you end up wanting to actually check them out live and see what the fuss is about, I always hunt around for deftones Tickets before committing, just in case I change my mind or find a better deal.

re: Buying car out of state
Posted by tsmit44 on 9/30/25 at 2:32 pm to Neauxla_Tiger
Bought in Alabama, dealer didn’t collect tax. I brought the title and itemized bill of sale to a LA title shop and paid my parish/state rate. If the sale price is clear, they’ll bill the difference. Temp tag covered the drive back. I went to the Panhandle during the quarantine phase. No checkpoint, but hotels asked. For a same day pickup and straight home, no issues. Keep your insurance card and purchase docs handy.
If you’d rather ship, I used LINK for a TX to Baton Rouge run. Door to door with tracking, fully insured, and no weird fees.

Yeah, 16.5 is massive. Saints are inconsistent but covering that spread seems doable, especially if Bills aren’t firing on all cylinders. I’d be cautious with the size of the bet, but definitely a tempting underdog play.
I did Duolingo Spanish for about 6 months and finished the path. The biggest jump came when I turned off the word bank, answered by typing/speaking only, and added two 30-minute tutor chats a week. Reading got solid fast, listening improved with kids’ podcasts at 0.8x and daily voice notes to a Mexican friend. By month four I could handle travel stuff and short small talk.
I picked up the realistic Q&A and PDF-drill habit from a big test-prep library that’s been around since 2014 while prepping for bmst, that structure made my Spanish practice way more consistent.

If you’re into seafood, check out Salt at The Ritz, amazing view and fresh catch. For casual, The Sandbar right on the beach is perfect. For something fun, rent bikes and explore the historic district or take a kayak tour through the marshes, it’s super chill. Don’t miss a sunset at Fort Clinch State Park, really pretty spot.
re: Are any multivitamins worth the money?
Posted by tsmit44 on 8/26/25 at 8:02 am to RebelExpress38
Multis never did much for me. I tried a few and mostly got neon pee and some nausea. Bloodwork showed low D and borderline iron, so I switched to D3, magnesium at night, and small iron doses with food. Labs improved and energy steadied. For me, testing and targeted doses beat a shotgun multi.I’ve been using Menalam lately. It gives a simple personalized plan from a quick quiz and adjusts when I add labs, plus reminders so I don’t miss doses.
Last year I was looking for an L-shaped set around 120 x 70. I focused on aluminum frames and Sunbrella cushions since the furniture stays uncovered. The modular pieces made it easy to get the right fit, and the cushions hold up well in the rain, just hose them off and they dry quickly. I still recommend using a cover for the winter months.
I went with a grey wicker modular set from https://wickerpark.ca/. Canadian-made with sturdy aluminum and Sunbrella, quick GTA delivery, and the sale kept it near my 2k budget.

re: Mass gainer supplements?
Posted by tsmit44 on 8/19/25 at 8:42 am to pilsnerpusher
I put on 22 lbs before my senior season by ditching mass gainers and making 900-cal shakes, whey, oats, banana, peanut butter, a splash of olive oil, and whole milk or greek yogurt. Two a day between meals kept me full without the sugar crash. Creatine monohydrate 5g daily helped strength and water weight, and a pre bed shake made a big difference. If dairy bugs him, use lactose free milk.
Lately I’ve used Menalam to dial in what to take and when, it gave me a personalized, science-backed plan with reminders so I stay consistent.

Try The Eagle for classic pub food, Homeslice for big pizza slices, or BaoziInn for cheap dumplings. If you don’t mind a short walk, Flat Iron is great for steak but expect a queue.
Prioritize Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, 40 minutes away, active volcanoes and steam vents, totally worth it. Also, check out Rainbow Falls and Akaka Falls for quick nature hits. The Hilo Farmers Market is great for local food and souvenirs. If you have time, Panaewa Rainforest Zoo is free and cool.
re: Taking an Alaskan Cruise and need outerwear recommendations.

Your plan works if the fleece is warm. No heavy coat needed for 5–15°C. Add hat, gloves, waterproof shoes. Skip bulky parkas.
Looking for an insurance company
Posted by tsmit44 on 7/31/25 at 3:04 pm
Does anyone have experience working with a company that can help set up group health insurance and other benefits? I’m looking for something that doesn’t take weeks to figure out. I found Taylor Benefits Insurance Agency while searching, has anyone worked with them or other reliable company?
For food, try Gristmill for Tex-Mex with river views or Mozie’s nearby.
re: Anyone have a plumber recommendation?
Posted by tsmit44 on 7/22/25 at 3:15 pm to GeauxTime9
I had a small leak in my bathroom that needed pretty quick attention, and the plumber I called took care of it the same day without any hassle or surprise fees, which made a big difference. Since then, AnytimePlumbing is the only company I call with both small and big repairs. They’re actually reliable even for last-minute stuff, so you can try them.

Watch for ZTL zones in towns to avoid fines. Parking is limited; use lots outside centers. A smaller van or SUV works best for tight roads. Have full insurance and cash for tolls and parking.

re: Quick trip to NYC: JFK to Manhattan logistics and quick restaurant/street food recs?
Posted by tsmit44 on 7/12/25 at 1:28 pm to Randall Savauge
Cab from JFK at midnight is easiest, flat rate around $70. For the return, book Uber or car service by 1 PM.
Quick food near Midtown: Joe’s Pizza (fast, classic slice) Los Tacos No. 1 (inside Times Square food court) Ess-a-Bagel (good breakfast) Skip Times Square food otherwise.

I remember when we flew with our little one for the first time, and we had Pre Check too. TSA let us all go through together, including the baby, which honestly made things so much easier. The security process was way quicker since we didn’t have to deal with removing shoes or unloading a bunch of things from the baby bag, just the bottles for scanning. Definitely helped reduce the stress. By the way, if you’re also prepping for things like a baptism or looking for a special keepsake, there are some really nice personalized options out there for families. I came across some thoughtful ones on https://lovia.ro/ that focus on custom baptism supplies and gifts.
Playing around with AI art tools is honestly a lot of fun, but the learning curve can be a bit much at first. I tried out a bunch for cool photo edits and weird designs, but also messed with some that make music from scratch, since I was curious how far you can push these models. For art, I actually like mixing up different generators since each one tends to have its own "style," and paying for a subscription makes sense when you want more control or bigger images. Feels like every month or so a new AI pops up that's worth testing before settling on a favorite.
If you end up wanting to play with music or beats, you should check out an ai music maker. It's wild how much you can customize and tweak things, and it gets rid of worrying about copyright issues when making your own content.

I’ve spent time tweaking bots on 3Commas too, and it’s been decent, especially for setting up grid bots that run hands-off. But what worked best for me lately is looking into more DEX-specific setups that don’t rely on centralized exchanges. I’ve been focused more on Solana-based tokens now, and I wanted bots that suit that ecosystem. The preset options are nice, but sometimes I felt like I needed something more tailored to certain platforms like Raydium or Meteora.
When I’m renting for trips, I usually start with Costco too, just to compare rates. But I’ve found that if I need something fancier or want a specific model, like a convertible or a high-end SUV, it's better to go outside the usual big-name companies. The quality and condition of the vehicle really varies, and I hate rolling the dice on that. I’ve had issues before with basic rentals showing up with more wear than expected, especially during peak travel times.
For trips to New York, I’ve used this service that operates in Manhattan and had a Porsche delivered directly to my hotel. Super smooth process and the car was spotless. Worth it if you're looking for a premium ride and don't want the hassle of going to a rental counter—check out this car rental services on https://realcar.nyc/locations/manhattan if that's part of your plans.
