UCLA fan visiting for September, 2024 match-up looking for recommendations

Hello LSU Nation.
I have mad respect for the LSU athletic program, especially the rich and storied history of LSU football. Visiting Tiger Stadium has been very high on my bucket list of stadiums to see for a long, long time. I circled my calendar for our September, 2024 match-up as soon as the UCLA-LSU game was scheduled roughly a decade ago.
I'm looking forward to visiting both New Orleans and Baton Rouge for the first time this fall for the UCLA-LSU game and would appreciate any recommendations for things to see, places to eat, tailgating, etc.
In the meantime, hoping the PAC 12 can go out on a high note in the College World Series, but if the PAC 12 doesn't pull it out, good luck to the Tigers baseball team!

Be sure to wear pac 12 gear. Our fans go out of their way to feed and share beer with people from out of town. Our fan base has a mixed reputation regarding hospitality, but that is largely propaganda and regarding in conference rivals.
You on the other hand will be taken care of. Get on campus three hours at least, before kick off.

What is your age group and are you bringing a crew? That can help narrow down some recommendations if you are just traveling in general or looking to party more.
I can’t speak for New Orleans but for Baton Rouge on gameday people tend to hit up Chimes or Walk Ons before tailgating. You can go see Mike’s habitat while tailgating, there’s usually a ton of people in that area right by the stadium.

Welcome! That’s going to be a great weekend.
You will get a lot of really good tips here for timeline of events, where to visit and places to eat. You need to be prepared for the heat. You haven’t experienced it before, I promise. It will be hella hot and the air will feel like a boiled, wet wool blanket covering you. You will need loose, breathable clothes, sunscreen and a hat.
Make sure you wear your school colors and stop to talk at the larger tailgates. You will take some light hearted ribbing but they will feed you well. Many lifelong friendships have been formed that way.

OP, take your questions to the travel board.
This board is already on edge as it is, and you’re certainly not going to get great tips on NOLA or BR on the rant anyway

I would not get hammered in New Orleans the night before the game because that will make for a long hot Saturday in Baton Rouge.
I assume the game will be at night but if you are coming in from New Orleans I would get to campus sometime in the morning. Walk Ons and the Chimes would be good places to mingle and grab a bite to eat or if early enough hit up Louie's for breakfast and then walk around campus and mingle.
The Parade Ground area is reserved for the frats but closer in to campus they will be plenty of tailgating around. Introduce yourself and you will be surprised at how many will serve you food and drink.
Check out the pregame atmosphere as gametime gets closer to see the band march down the hill.
As far as New Orleans, plenty to do but just know Sat needs to be spent all day in Baton Rouge and if a late game you won't get back to New Orleans until very late.
I would say book dinner reservations in New Orleans fri night and if going back after the game you can hit up brunch in New Orleans on Sunday. So many places to choose from and a lot will depend on where you are staying.

That’s not true. We have great posts listing game day timelines, must see places and things, best food options, etc. This has always been the board that offered that info. Don’t be an arse. First pitch is still more than an hour away.

Night games are all day events. In the heat. People start tailgating at 9 am for a 7:00 kickoff. It’s a festival atmosphere will all day eating and drinking. In the heat. You do not want to be hungover on Saturday.

Don't wear the "Sissy Blue Shirt"! 
In all honesty you will be treated to one of the best times of your life with excellent food and free Booze at every tailgate you stop by. Have fun, also make sure to get in the stadium early to witness the pre-game Tiger Rag! It will send chills through out your entire body!

If you are staying in New Orleans, budget at least three days to get your fill and bucket list taken care of. Don't do a check in on Thursday. You will be pissed that you dropped the ball and did not stay longer.
Saturday will be a long day. Don't go out late in NOLA or get stupid drunk the night before. Save that for the previous nights, or nights after the game.
You want to get to campus as soon as reasonably practical. By noon things are kicking. Don't enter the stadium any earlier than an hour before. You will be baking in the sun for no reason.
Drink a lot of water. You are going to be miserable in the heat. Wear breathable clothing like others have mentioned.
Walk up to tailgates wanting to try their food. They will basically sit you down and make a plate for you.
You will get ribbing, but it is a good natured, friendly ribbing. You may bump into a few drunk students who will show their arse, but just be entertained by it. Usually the vile a-hole fans who occasionally cross the line never stepped foot in an LSU classroom, and are embarrassing to the alumni.
You will love the pageantry. Maybe you will want to see the tiger walk. Go see Mike the Tiger in his habitat. Check the lsusports website for times of interest the week of the game. They lay out all plans for the day.
