I'm genuinely concerned for my nephew's well-being

My nephew is currently a sophomore ROTC cadet scheduled to commission in 2026. I don't have a lot of confidence in his future leadership, either civilian or military, to not put his life, career, and well-being at risk.

There's a long multi-generational history of military service in my wife's family. He will be the fourteenth individual over the last four generations to serve in uniform and the seventh commissioned officer.

The military of today is not the one of yesterday. To do something based on tradition is not smart, considering the current leadership and state of our military.

I’m a 30 year vet. Recently I’ve actively encouraged my sons to not join the military. It’s no longer a place for white conservative Christian males.

Senate Confirmation is required for E9+, W3+, and O4+. The earliest he would be eligible for any board requiring Senate Confirmation is 2034.

I agree with ur first statement, i would not advise my kid to join the military.. not necessarily b/c of the pronoun stuff, which isnt a great look - but mainly becuase, as a soldier, you have no say in whatever kind of effed up wars and “conflicts” that the US government might send you to die in… You gotta take orders, and I wouldn’t have too much confidence in those orders .. if some other soldier identifies as gay or trans, hell that just frees up even more poon for me .
