There was a time that would create rally posts on here and lots of "shut it down" memes posted by the people who now support Israel almost religiously

I'm going to laugh if Trump wins and puts this sicko in a real position of power.

I suppose that's true IF you count anyone of Jewish faith and/or heritage that gets involved with US politics, including citizens.

If "meddling" is limited to either non-citizens of Jewish faith/heritage or the political state of Israel that poll is not accurate.

Which Massie's presentation of that poll and his real goal is very likely a little disingenuous (he's wanting to show anti-Israel bias as his real goal).

I'm assuming after the poll ends and Israel wins he will the post some numbers of why it isn't Israel at all.

Why?

The most powerful lobby group in American government is AIPAC, which is specifically based around Israel.

Why would you do that?

Rep. Thomas Massie is getting no apparent pushback from either party in the House after a social media post that suggested Congress was more interested in "Zionism" than "American patriotism."

The Kentucky Republican posted a meme on X on Tuesday that put the two concepts at odds — drawing condemnation from Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, who called it antisemitic, as well as from the Biden White House. But among Massie's House colleagues, the move is attracting little if any attention.

quote:

The Kentucky lawmaker responded to Schumer’s call to delete his post on Tuesday by indicating that he had meant to draw a contrast between Congress' support for Israel and its treatment of migration on the southern border.

"If only you cared half as much about our border as you do my tweets," Massie replied to Schumer.

If FARA was a real thing, AIPAC would have to register.

But how much does the US meddle in other countries affairs?

Massie just got re-elected in a landslide and is probably the most popular representative in the country in his home district.

He can basically say and do anything he wants.

if a citizen or a legal PAC or form of political group it is by definition not meddling because it is a legal form of expression regarding politics. Do you "meddle" in your own bathroom? No, it's yours you belong there. Citizens and legal political entities belong in US politics. If you do not use that line of reasoning the two major political parties are also "meddling" in US elections.

"meddling" implies, very strongly, that you are messing with something that isn't your own business. If it's deemed legal or a right/duty (as with the citizen-individual) it is your business (in the sense you have a role to play inherently, not commercial interest).

Why would you do that?
to show the contrast between the reality of the situation vs. public perception (it is a public-open poll).

I agree, personally. But if our gov't, including the judicial branch, deems it legal expression, it isn't, by definition, "meddling". I would like to see the "legal" groups whittled down based on the line of thinking of do they first have a right granted by the constitution and then does that group have a vested interest in promoting the welfare of the US and NOT a vested interest in the welfare of a specific group and thus expand the definition of "meddling". But the courts have been steadily and incrementally going the other way with that. When the Soros Foundation can do what it does, legally, the problem isn't definitions... the problem is the law.
