My house pad was built up before we built and have a few washouts. Tried using black jack and sandy soil to no luck. Everything is still washed away when it rains. Any tricks to making soil stay instead of continuing to wash out? Next step is put erosion control blanket on top before rains and remove after. Have plugs growing but can’t keep soil in place long enough for it to continue to spread.

I believe fill dirt is what is usually used for grading and leveling. However it doesn’t have much nutritional value for a lawn. If it’s a pretty steep incline you might need to use erosion control no matter what material you use.

No way you used “blackjack”

My house is on a mountain of blackjack and extremely steep slopes and mine held. So steep we have to weedeat the slopes.

Not a soil type and not perfect, but have you considered permeable pavers (Amazon Link)?
