White or black we have no idea and never will know who the best of those times were
Black Americans played baseball as their number 1 sport back then. They seem to do pretty well in American pro sports leagues that they treat as their number 1 priority

You think women's college basketball is as closely competitive/similar to the NBA as the negro league and MLB were?

Baseball was pretty much the only sport in America at the time. Meaning heavily gravitated to by youth of all races as the main sport
It’s easy to see with what we know about the races now the negro league was possibly better, or at least as good as the white league, thus making white only records look hollow.
I would be fine with them having a separate category called Pro Baseball and including the two leagues and using that as the golf standard, while still having MLB only as a reference

The NFL and AFL merged and more consistent records and statistics were kept. The Negro Leagues had 6 or 7 incarnations and the stats and record keeping were sub par at best, not to mention there was no merger.
And speaking of merger, even though the NBA absorbed the ABA, they don’t count their stats.
