Landing in Bozeman at 1pm.
Picking other up at the airport at 530.
Any thoughts on what to do for 4 1/2 hours in Bozeman or the area?
Thought about just driving to Butte or Helena just to see the country.

Big Sky isn’t too far away. Beautiful Country

Lot of food and drink in Bozeman. Go get some at MAP and also Montains Walking. If you want to get out of town, Big Sky is a bit south. If you want more of a small mountain town feel, go south west to Ennis which is like an hour away. If you are there in two and half weeks, come fish with us just north of west yellowstone

Thanks! I thought about that. Even just riding the chairlift for the heck of it.

If we end up just staying in town, we will hit these up!

Will be there a week from Saturday for a week. Actually a bit south of Livingston is where we are staying. Looks like we will just miss you. Do you have a guide or a place to contact about the fishing?
Thanks!

I don't have a personal recommendation for a guide up that way unfortunately.
I have a home/boat on Hebgen Lake just north of west Yellowstone so my usual spots for hunting and fishing are in the Madison valley between West Yellowstone and Ennis.

Call up Kelly at Gallup's Slide Inn. He has a bunch of great guides. Ask for Starr, but he is probably booked up. Starr is an LSU grad from Lake chuck and has been fishing there for 25 years

no real reason to drive to helena or butte just to see country side when you'll be driving to livingston. Paradise valley south of livingston is much prettier drive. if you like a challenging short hike, go hike the "M" trail on the bridgers and then hit up mountain walking and bozeman brewing or maybe go out to Hyalite reservoir.

Museum of the rockies would be cool to kill some time in.

If you wanted to do something outdoorsy, hike the M, otherwise go to Outlaw Brewing.

Immerse yourself in local culture...have a drink at the " Cat's Paw"
For some time outdoors, the Hyalite Creek/Reservoir area is a good place to take a walk through the woods.

South of Livingston in emigrant is Angler's west fly shop. They have some great guides. My grp has fished with Nolan, Ryan, Jeremy, and Lance and they have all been great.

Katabatic Brewing in Livingston is worth a stop

Check out the former cult bunkers near Emigrant, MT (a small town on route 89 halfway between Livingston and Gardiner) in Paradise Valley (they're in a development called Glastonbury).
