Religion ain't science. Stop trying to make it so.
Protestants (I am one) are most guilty of this with their 65 minute lecture sermons. I'm not talking about the box church bros. That's another issue entirely. This is the best public conversation I've ever seen, and I've listened to hundreds. Please comment.

Trying to take faith out of the equation is swimming against the stream.

But what do you mean by “faith”?
It’s the same Greek word as “belief”

truth is consistent
history is collected evidence of the truth
Faith has been more consistent than science
ergo faith has been more historically true than science

There’s no comparison. Or no need to compare.

Although I doubt Peterson covers any new ground, he's an excellent communicator and I'll watch this later.

Augustine (somewhat) and later Aquinas attempted to reconcile the question, Paul Davies, a contemporary theoretical physicist, as well in "The Mind of God" and other writings. None have presented a completely satisfying thesis for the scientific mind. That applies as well for Hawking and his thoughts.

For myself, I long ago accepted Pascal's Wager as the best "fit" for my belief in God. Or, if you like.....

Jordan Peterson looks and talks like he's never had a day of fun in his life. This pompous a-hole thinks he's above everyone else but you can tell in his eyes he's a miserable person. I don't think I've ever seen the guy smile but to be fair I'm obviously not a huge fan so after seeing all I need to see I don't watch many of his videos. He's not the philosophical genius he makes himself out to be. I hope the guy wakes up tomorrow, realizes how big of a douche he is and does a rail of coke off a strippers arse to start the first day of the rest of his life. Not sure what sort of debauchery it would take to get whatever is stuck up his arse out but the guy needs to stop taking everything so damn seriously.

Religion is a belief system.

Science is a tool for investigating the natural world.

religion hasn't killed anyone

misuse or abuse of religion has killed less than abuse of science/engineering which creates weapons of warfare

That’s what it was intended to be. Folks in search of non traditional meaning sources have made too much of it. Now we have Scientism.
