For you Louisiana boys, pour one out for Maj. Mark Hohle. Flew with him in HMH-465 on the west coast and floated with him aboard the USS Okinawa in HMM-164(C) on a WestPac deployment and Desert Storm. Went by the call sign "Cajun". Died in a CH-53E crash after I got out of the Corps.
That's Cajun on the left. That was our "Steel Beach" day on the ship on the flight deck*.

My great-uncle was in D-Day -after they got off the boat the guys to the left and right of him were shot. One died instantly, the other guy asked my great-uncle not to leave him in the water
After 3 hours of being pinned down, my uncle dragged the dead guy on the beach first, then dragged the living one.
My g-uncle told me the guys’ names but he’s been dead since I was little .
