Recently finished rewatching The Wire

A few thoughts. Spoilers obviously.

This is the GOAT tv show for me. When I first watched it like 12 years ago I thought that, still do. I put off rewatching it because it’s so damn depressing, but it’s great.

-season 1 still starts off slow but hits rocket fuel when Kima is shot. That scene with the cops and helicopter and the sound sucked out is pure art.
-I really enjoy every character that is true to his/herself. McNulty is a train wreck in all aspects of life, but he’s natural police and cares deeply. Stringer is a fricking fraud that Avon dissects perfectly. Avon on the other hand is just a gangster, as he says. I rooted for the characters that weren’t phony.
-I hate Herc with a passion. Terrible person, even worse cop. Carver had a great arc.
-Bunny Colvin was right and should be President.
-Rawls is maybe the biggest hard arse in TV history but cracked me up.
-I’d watch a show of just Frank Sobotka and Stan Valchek.
-I hate Rhonda Pearlman.
-Slim Charles is my favorite peripheral character
-The storylines with the kids are devastating
-Probablt never rooted harder for a fictional character than I did for Bubbles.
-Lester was a pain in the arse, great detective
-Bunk is Bunk
-Omar
-Season 5 not as bad as people say

I think that’s it. It’s the best.
