I guess one LSU player didn't opt in for the EA CFB 25 game?

Confirmed with an EA employee that names are autogenerated for players who didn't opt in.

Here's hoping for a randomly generated pre-game Sooner Schooner tip over.

Curious why you wouldn't opt-in.

Unless they're required to do something I'm not aware of, its basically free money.

Player could've wanted more money than what everyone was getting. You get a free copy of the game and $600.

The players have zero leverage to get more compensation. People will buy the game with or without their name, image, or likeness. It is quite silly to opt out because you think "I need to be paid more". EA and consumers don't care.

For the majority of players its was foolish to opt in. EA established a pool for everyone to split evenly. After a decade of fighting, the original group got about $250…now a decade later, 90% of the players opted in for $500.

The real winners will be those that declined, since EA negotiated individually with the opt outs. Given the bad optics of random generated jerseys, I think all the starters will be filled by release, with substantially better arrangements.

Next year’s release will be a circus when teammates inevitably start collectively bargaining for by positions or groups. I expect EA will start upcharging for rosters.

Not only free money, what kid doesn't wanna see themselves in an epic video game?

Do people care about this shite this much? Give me 600 bucks and a copy of the game and let me play with my own team and my boys.

Most of these college kids would’ve opted in just for a free copy of the game. They don’t realize how great of a marketing opportunity this is in itself, but also how fricking cool it is to see yourself in a video game

That’s already been disproven. The last game didn’t use names. The likeness and player stats were the foundation of the last lawsuit.

Nobody’s buying the game if a team’s player skills don’t match reality.

The walk on, white linebacker is going to shite himself when his speed rating is a 58 to go along with his 52 overall

Really surprised his name is James James or Muhammed Muhammed. Tho in the 2014 game, Muhammeds were usually white dudes playing WR or DB

EA should simply create the gameplay / engine, the design of the venues and schools (for which they pay a license fee) and then randomly autogenerate the players BUT allow names and attributes to also be programmable by the user. Then some nerds create downloadable templates for rosters that are unpoliceable a la Napster. It’s like gun liability — yes I manufactured the weapon, no I don’t make anyone use it.

Really doesn’t matter anyway. In about a week, every player in my dynasty will have names like Baxter Willis.
