This gets called in Omaha on the regular

Doesn’t matter because LSU should not have been in that situation in the first place. No excuses!

Well rules do matter. Especially in game ending situations.

That would be a joke of an interference call. The rule has to have parameters in writing but Milazzo had a clear throw and tossed it into the parking lot. The runner was a step inside of the line still on the dirt, that isn’t what the rule is designed to prevent

So where was he when the ball was actually being fielded at first. Because that pic isn’t the situation the rule is protecting against.

Yes, should have been called but it should not have come down to putting the game in the umps or replays hand.

The rule is designed to prevent anyone from being inside the foul line. I’m sorry you don’t understand the rule but the runner should be starting his run to the right not the left. Omaha doesn’t give a shite about it. They call this at least 8 times a tournament

The rule is designed to prevent interference, which wasn’t the case on that play. You can link some shitty Google AI breakdown all you want but any good ump isn’t calling interference unless the runner is actually obstructing or attempting to obstruct the throwing lane
ETA: this is how the rule is actually written in the NCAA rulebook.
NCAA 2-51 Interference
Interference SECTION 51.
The act of an offensive player, umpire or nongame person who interferes with; physically or verbally hinders; confuses; or impedes any fielder attempting to make a play
Nowhere does it say that you can’t run inside the line. Congrats on your first foray with Google AI answers giving you completely bad info and you falling for it with no further research

Every single part of the rule was broken BUT it is a judgement call. Jones was the one interfered with and not Milazzo

Admit it...when LSU got 2 Outs they turned into The Island of Misfit Toys...
You had a Pitcher who can't throw a strike.
A Catcher who can't throw to 1st.
And a 1st Baseman who can't catch.
Other than that they should have won.

All that may true but what does that have to do with incorrectly running to first?

Directly from your article:
When are you going to shut the frick up? It wasn’t interference by any stretch of the imagination, either in written rules or by their interpretation based on the broader rule. No one with half a brain sees that picture and thinks “runner’s interference”. He wasn’t interfering with the play buddy, get over it.

Finally, not only must the runner be running illegally, but also he must interfere. A runner who runs up the grass to 1st base (illegal), but doesn’t interfere with the fielder receiving the ball at 1st is NOT guilty of Runner’s Lane Interference

However, in the College World Series play the runner did contact the 1st baseman causing him to drop the ball
You forgot this part. He ran illegally and made contact with our 1st baseman. Easy out in Omaha

It isn’t false there is some leeway to it. Like striding but if any ball comes at an angle to the 1st baseman and you are inside the foul line you will be called out. if you make contact with him.

It isn’t false

What about a left fielder who can’t catch

I’m sorry but if the 1st baseman and the runner make contact and the person has run inside the foul line…. It’s an out.

No one is talking about the run. We are talking about the contact with the 1st baseman based off the run.
