ETA: You understand the overwhelming majority of snakebites come from people dicking with snakes, right? More people get bit trying to move or kill snakes than any other way. Leave the snake alone and teach your children or grandchildren to do the same. You're not some grand protector because you killed a likely harmless snake.

That's the reason I don't dick with any of them. They all are gone if I see them

Tell that to the god damned 5.5 foot rattle anake that decided to curl up in my drinking chair outside one evening.

I personally know 14 people that were bitten by venomous snakes in La…..13 most certainly deserved getting bit. One deserved BOTH bites he got(same snake)

The least serious bite was a baby water moccasin (blowing up yet another myth). The most serious - the double biting moccasin

My thoughts exactly. A real woodsman or outdoorsman can identify snakes. And deal with them. They will avoid biting you if at all possible. Though water moccasins can be pretty aggressive and territorial. Ticks are more of a real problem than snakes. Some people just hate to be reminded that wildlife and nature doesn’t mean park and petting zoos and terrariums.
