If Allen is the primary asset we get back in a BI trade, we lost the trade.
Allen is a good player and fits a need for us, but you can't trade an all-star wing in his prime for a big that can't stretch the floor. We better get something better back in a BI trade than just Allen.

You have to get a legit #2(not likely) or a legit #3 back for BI.
It's not that CJ has more value, it's just that it doesn't seem like that #2 is realistic this offseason, so use BI to get the #3.
Then at the deadline or next offseason, you make available every draft pick and dude not named Zion/Trey to try and get a #2 that hopefully becomes available.
That's the path. It's probably not terribly likely, but we gotta take big swings.

At a minimum we have to pair Allen with Garland, that should be the floor of what they are aiming for.
Ideally, find a way to pair Young/Mitchell with Allen, Hartenstein, or Claxton.

100%. Now if we got back max struss and like a 1st in addition to Allen, then I wouldn't be upset. I'm a big fan of struss
