Yeah, there values are roughly equal, I'd say Dejounte is probably slightly higher. The offers Griff gets for BI are going to shock people. He has 1 year left, wants 50 mill + a year, is not a good defender, was TERRIBLE with Team USA, had a terrible, beyond terrible playoff series, and is a dinosaur on offense that plays slow, refuses to take 3 point shots, and doesn't attack the rim regularly. Griff is going to get offered scraps. His work is cut out for him to get to the real offers.
100% agree. Griff is terrible at asset management. Good GMs don’t wait until rock bottom to sell an asset.

Dejounte Murray isn't a random vet
Hes an allstar caliber player- hes not s random vet. Dinwiddie is a random vet. I assumed this was a question by the way.

I don’t know man. Most do. Masai and other gms are the same. I’ll be honest no one really thought about trading BI last summer. We needed this season and abysmal playoff run to understand that. Now the real issue Griff has is accepting sunk cost and selling when necessary. For instance, hes let Lonzo and now Val walk for nothing instead of just accepting whats given. He needs to accept the value of BI and move forward regardless if the criticism he gets for what he gets back. I still think he can get solid value just not as high as he thinks.

Bobby Marks ESPN
Thought this segment from Bobby Marks was pretty interesting. He's not really saying anything you don't know, but it's interesting to hear someone who's been a GM give some info on how this works. Quality is pretty crap but a good listen for Pels fans.
One big thing I got from this is that I think BI has more trade value than what we think. Marks said that the trend now is that centers don't typcially get huge contracts, but big wings are the ones getting the huge contracts. BI is still considered young, can score 20+ ppg, and can handle the ball and be a playmaker. Marks said that normally those types of players get max contracts. To me, that means BI has some trade value.
I think as fans we're looking at BI as a guy that other teams won't be interested in because he's not working out well as the #2 behind Zion. But it seems like other teams will see a big scoring, play making wing who isn't terrible at defense and rebounding.
I'm not saying we're going to get a huge haul, but this idea that we trade BI for peanuts isn't accurate. If we want to include some picks, I think we can get alot of value from trading him, Much easier said than done though.

Hope he and you are right.
We need to actually win a trade and get players that can help us now

I think the last 4 games ingram played are conflating our opinion of him too much.
Posted on 5/10/24 at 1:08 pm to whatiknowsofar
Not for me. I have a pretty long history of not being a BI lover (I wouldn't say hater either, I just don't have as high an opinion of him as others).
Posted on 5/10/24 at 1:11 pm to saintslsupels
He's an expiring contract. His value will be directly tied to his willingness to extend his contract with his next team. That alone will affect the type of assets teams are willing to give up to get him.

I mentioned this back around the trade deadline, but I’ve been on the trade BI train for a while now and have spent a lot of time trying to get a gauge of what other teams valuation of Ingram is. The answer seems to reflect exactly how this board feels about him in that it is polarizing. Apparently some FO around the league think very highly of Ingram while others don’t.
Around the trade deadline, the Dunc’d On pod made an off-hand comment in regards to trading BI for Myles Turner, and Nate mentioned BI is valued pretty highly by a few FOs. He specifically said BI value around the league was much higher than Turner’s.
Now, I’m not saying that is necessarily true anymore as trade value is an extremely fluid situation, based on recent play, contract situation, and the current market. A lot has changed since February and BI’s playoff dud obviously doesn’t help, but I think people are letting Ingram’s issues with fitting this team’s funky roster construction and clunky rotations, cloud their judgement of him as a player. Most GMs think more long term than that and do a better job of seeing the proverbial forest from the trees than we do

Technically thats true whether you want to believe it in your head thats a different story.
Do you still go around calling Ben Simmons an all-star?
The last time (only time) Ingram made the allstar game, so did Simmons..

I think non-Pels fans understand BI was coming off of an injury and wasn't 100%. They won't be as emotionally hurt, thus they won't discount his value the way many here would.

You’re a basketball moron if you equate Ben Simmons to Brandon Ingram. I can’t tell if you’re trolling or being serious.

You're right. Ben Simmons was an All-NBA player. Something BI will never come close to sniffing

I’m talking about currently. I get BI sucked in the playoffs but you guys have dropped this guy to be some dead weight player no one wants.

Well...
We don't want him. He's dead weight to us.

Well… it takes two to make a trade. So hes not technically dead weight to every team in the league…. Again hes not some horrible player that can’t play.
You guys need to stop being so bias and be just a bit objective. People here either value him too high or think hes cody zeller who’s going to get paid a lot of money.

He's a fine player. He is above average with well above average measurables.
Someone may overpay due to his measurables.
His skillset is outdated, and he is due 250 million dollars or so, which someone would have to be insane to pay him.

Yup thats all Im saying. Think about it this way. Other than Paul George- name me another former all star wing thats a capable scorer on the market?
I consider Dejounte and Donovan as guards more than wings.
