Is there any chance Drew Burress enters the Transfer Portal?

With todays transfer portal rules and LSU being the NIL powerhouse that it is; is there any shot we can convince this kid to make a move?
-21 HR as a True Freshman so far this year at Georgia Tech (Leads TF)
- .375 Batting Avg (Leads Team)
-.824 slg%
- 58 RBIs (Leads Team)
-59 Runs (Leads Team)
-14 Doubles (Leads Team)
----14 out of his first 15 college hits went for extra bases
----went 4-4 with 4 HR and a walk in a game earlier this season
A lot of casuals assume this is a Tommy White situation and no way he stays at GT right??
Well heres the issue w that:
-Top 50 highly touted HS prospect
-Projected Top 2 Round Pick out of HS but fell due to his size(5'9" 182lbs)
-Opted to play college ball instead
-Could have gone to any college he wanted
-Georgia kid that chose Georgia Tech
The Tigers are going to need to do a better job of putting the stick on the ball next year if they want a shot. We need to get some hitters
He could easily take the NIL $$ from somewhere or transfer to somewhere where he has a real chance to play for a championship.
Does $$ talk? Or is this kid going to be one of the first ones to actually stay loyal to his university during this crazy Portal/NIL era that we're in?
I'd respect the hell out of him if he stayed at GT. But it would also be pretty cool if he came to LSU.... obviously if he goes anywhere else in the SEC, hes an instant sell-out

Has this even kid made any indication he will enter the portal?

Tommy White was #18 nationally and #1 3b
Opted to play college baseball
Could’ve gone to any college he wanted to
That said, I have no idea if we have a shot at the kid.

Negative
-Hence the proposed question: if theres any shot that he might enter and/or then if he did would we have any shot

Kid was a super high end recruit.
He didn’t end up at GTech by accident. but he could be tired of losing.

Is there any chance we could get Jace Laviolette in the portal?
Is there any chance we could get Gavin Turley in the portal?
Is there any chance we could get Justin Lebron in the portal?
If you think any of those three questions are dumb, then you should realize that your question is dumb.

Some Mid Major Guys to look at
Tanner Thach- UNCW-Soph.
.325/.413/.736 with 24 HR hit 15 last year. Weak competition though. not a lot of AB against quality teams. 6’4” 220 plays 1st base
He’s a JR but Jakob Christian at USD. 6’5” 225
.349/.436/.782 with 20 HR
Played 2 years at Jay’s Alma Mater before transferring. If he doesn’t go high maybe he would want to jump up to SEC play his last year.
JP Smith 6’1” 240 1B/DH Sacramento State
.264/.362/.606 19 HR
hit 14 as a freshmen with a .339 BA.
Zach Stewart - Missouri State - Soph
.305/.378/.665 20 HR. is a Lefty and plays RF.
Played 5 games vs SEC teams and went 6/21 not great but he can improve over the summer. he mostly crushed Missouri 5/9 in 2 games.
Brooks Bray Troy - Soph - C
.310/.405/.663 with 17 HR
played 3 games vs SEC teams went 2/8 with 1 BB 1 HBP 1 SF. played 20 games at C, 20 in the OF, 7 at DH. is a lefty.

Depends if he wants a degree from GT, because that is better than a degree from LSU.
I doubt he's going to get any taller in the next few years so if his size was a concern for MLB teams this past draft, it will probably still be an issue in 2 years. But SEC baseball is better than ACC baseball, so if the dream is MLB, come on down!

We looked at him last year when he transferred from Point Loma Nazarene.

He's draft eligible and will be taken and paid enough to go pro. His stats are good, his underlying metrics are similar to top of the draft guys.

Those other guys will all likely be in the postseason. Players like to win, typically. I think that was made clear to be the point of the OP's question.
The grouchiness on this site never ends.

This is true, but I think that him proving himself at the college level is showing that he can keep up.
One of those anomaly situations like Jose Altuve

kinda wild we didn’t try and get him. I guess we thought out OF was loaded… and honestly he isn’t playing the best competition at USD, but you don’t hit 17 HR anywhere if you don’t have some power

His brother committed to Johnson at Arizona so it’s clearly a done deal imo.

I think that was his cousin, but that doesn't change him being a lock for us.

That actually made me curious to check. It’s his brother and after Arizona in 2022 he ended up at Oklahoma State with Brennan Holt which makes it even more of a done deal.

well he is from Georgia
so i’d be just as concerned about UGA snagging him.
