DAT 5/3. Seattle (Kirby) @ Astros (Blanco) 7:10

Thursday was a good day for the DAT. The good ole boys hit it good, Our Spaghetti was serviceable on the mound, and an 8-2 win ensued, bringing the Astros to within 9 games of .500.
The DAT waxed philosophical...
...and rallied around an unlikely new hero:
Today, the People's new ace Ronel Blanco takes the mound to try to do something the Astros don't do at home against the Mariners----win.
Seattle occupied MMP last year, as did most of MLB, and posted a 6-1 record.
Hope abounds. 4 wins in 5 games. Starting pitchers getting healthy. What could possibly go wrong now?
Time to go get 'em Astros!

Just Jon Singleton hitting .275 with a .362 OBP and 7 walks to 12K. Not sure where these tracks are headed but I'm riding the train.

Me after last night:
And is Yordan hibernating?

If someone had told you in 2014, Jon Singleton would be our starting first baseman in 2024, you might have had some lofty assumptions of the period in between.

The Guardians series felt like a turning point. Finally won a close game. Won a series against a good team at home. Got some hits with RISP. Dropped the Abreu anchor and got production at 1B. Team was engaged and fired up. Even the game we lost was largely due to bad batted ball luck. With pitching getting healthy now, we may be ready to go on a tear. Only negatives are Yordan and Bregman, and I think Yordan will be fixed with a little rest time.

Now do Bregman and Judge
Bregs raking in $30 M this year

Bregman might salvage himself if he forgot the Crawford Boxes existed and committed himself to being a line drive merchant willing to shoot a single oppo. The juiced ball isn't coming back and if he keeps up his pull fly approach, neither is he

Part of me thinks he'll be more willing to do that after he gets the bag. Sort of like Hader will go out and give you two innings now that he got his money. They know what credentials they need to get paid, I get it.
But you gotta give him the money before you find that out. I wouldn't

He’s got $100 M in the bank and 2 WS rings. He hasn’t been a team player in a long time. He only has pull power, and even that is questionable at this point.
His defense has dropped off some.
At this point, all we know for sure is that he has a nutsack full of fleas
And Ihonestly hate to see it. Because he made this choice to adopt his present plate approach. He can handle a bat, and can hit to all fields
The only chip left on his shoulder is for salsa dipping

Kirby, Gilbert, and Miller have been pretty remarkable so far this season. I think Kirby has had a bad outing or 2 to inflate his stats but he’s prob the best pitcher on that staff with Castillo
Fortunately their offense has seemed to be terrible so it’ll be an interesting series. Need our starters to show up and avoid bullpen meltdowns. See if our offense can get their starters pitch counts up cause I doubt we’re gonna score a ton off them
Then again…what’s even the point of trying to predict wtf this team is gonna do at this point. Except Bregman..we can easily predict that
If we can find a way to take 2/3 we will just be 5 games back with 3 consecutive series won. Lose the series and we are 7-8 games back and go back to burning it all down

Well, the games are at home, and they owned us last year here. Our home record period is overall miserable
We just won a home series with no help from Bregman and Alvarez
Should be good odds on ur money the other way. And if Astros win, it’s still worth it at an entertainment value level bet

Yeah I’m tempted to bet the under for each game but right now I’m just going with Seattle in first 5 innings at even money

With our pen, our 6-9th innings run differential and extra innings record, you gotta take money coming back on the win if ur gonna make that bet

Good news: Espada dropped Bregman in the lineup
Bad news: he’s cleanup
