I am losing faith in the MAGA faithful.
Maybe he’s trolling. Hopefully.

Ted needs to be Chief Justice

Candidly I don't really care about Trump selling everyone out on Ukraine (well, at least anymore than I care about everyone else doing it to us).
But it's just ridiculous that guys whose only tenets in life are whatever position Trump is taking on a given day somehow think it makes sense to call out Massie supporters for hypocrisy
I guess "All my views are Trump's views regardless of whether his views change day to day" is a twisted form of ideological consistency

The same bill that passed with overwhelming Republican support in 2018? Including Mr. Gaetz?
And yet, this time around, Johnson had the chance to shut it down and show American's he might be just who he said he was. But nah, just continue the status quo.

Ousting Johnson is "silly" and "seriously counterproductive" as it "increases the chance of chaos" and "handing control" to Dems.
The Dims already have control.
They get literally everything they want because the controlled opposition GOPe gives it to them after pretending to put up a fight.
Prove me wrong.
I like Ted and I see his point, but there are secondary and tertiary contexts that add shades of gray to this debate.

There's just no good solution here. Everyone we put in the seat is forced to confront political realities that don't exist and none of them want to be on an island doing the hard thing and knowing that half (or more) of their own party will abandon them and a large percentage of their constituency won't ultimately have the stomach for it either.
I do, of course, support standing firm, shutting down the government if necessary, etc. But the reality is that half the people clamoring for it won't be there to back up the decision maker (I'm talking about citizens too here). And what's more, we simply don't have the mandate to do many of the things the most conservative/populist/whatever contingent of the GOP wants to do.
If we're punishing politicians because they're too scared or unable to do what 30% of the country wants them to do, there's just never going to be a happy ending.

I don't care if the GOP passes one single bill, as long as they stop Democrats from passing any of theirs. And that hasn't happened with Johnson at all.

Gaetz (and others like him) haven't figured out that while fighting back is productive and something we need to do, that doesn't mean that every form of fighting back is productive. It can quickly get into counterproductive territory. It might make your seat even safer, if that's possible, but in the context of national politics it can be a drag on your cause.

You think only 30% of American's were against warrantless FISA? If that is true, there's no hope for this country at all.

quote:The solution is pretty simple: WIN MORE ELECTIONS. The speaker should always be picked by a majority of the House, not 8 members and the minority party. That's a recipe for picking a weak leader, with no power. He only go there because of a dysfunctional coalition, the majority of which ideologically opposes him.

DC runs on payback and revenge. Johnson owes more to Democrats than Republicans. That's why Democrats are saying they might protect him.
quote:Exactly. It's how our system was designed. MAGA folks may not like it. But it also keeps the far Left weirdo out of power too.

Maybe they get one that has the "sack" not to bring every bill the Democrats love to the floor.

That’s all that was needed. He could have sat on his hands until January.
