Your issue whether you realize it or not is you are allowing your happiness to depend on outside forces you have little if any control over. The "ONLY person" in the equation is staring back at you from the mirror.

Nope. It’s kind of hard when every single day something dumb as frick happens.

Fortunately I listened to my elders.
Never took this bait.

The worst are the Sunday Scaries! Life is pretty shitty right now for everybody We are losing our country right before our eyes. Everybody is weird as frick. Everybody is so sensitive these days. Movies suck these days: tv shows suck these days. Music sucks these days.. Nightlife sucks these days.. Every celebrity you thought you liked is now either a pedophile or a total woke piece of shite that hates all of us… the internet fricking sucks.. Social media fricking sucks… service sucks everywhere.. your favorite brick and mortar shops are closing down left and right… malls are dead… everything is expensive as frick. Nobody laughs or has humor anymore. Everybody’s face is buried in their phones all day.. Standup comedy fricking sucks. Everybody begs for tips everywhere you go… service sucks everywhere… Our country is getting invaded by who knows what. Google just destroyed the livelihoods of millions of online small businesses with their recent algorithms- they now only care about supporting multi million/billion dollar companies… Everybody has to walk on eggshells 24 hours/day worried about offending someone… Yea, life is pretty shitty these days. It’s all bizarre. I’m fricking bitter because the one thing I truly enjoy is watching a Braves game and Comcast fricked that up for me today because of greed. Yea, life is pretty shitty these days

Nobody said life would be easy. You are in control (or should be) in regards to how you react to fricked up things happening. It may help to realize your worst day would be one of the better days for most people in the world.

Quit drinking.
Workout often.
Do things (anything but drink) in some sort of social circle.
Come back in 90 days and tell us how things are going.

I feel that way too sometimes... but I think the key is to quit judging yourself against what you see on TV, etc.
My parents both grew up on a farm (even though both my grandparents had jobs, they had to farm to make ends meet). Neither having an indoor bathroom until they were in 4th grade or so.
They both had to come home from school and help pick cotton or work the fields. Get up before school and pick veggies. Etc.
Neither of them ever really had vacations at al growing up.
I look at my life and sometimes feel its a grind and sucks... then I just think how awesome it is compared to theirs and their parents.

I’m with you…
My thinking is work hard play hard.
Meaning I work hard to make sure I can go be a dumbass and play around shooting and having fun in the woods or the ocean spending time with my fam and friends…
Unfortunately I liv pay check to paycheck and have nothing saved up so hat is a stressor also.
Bu I feels good to b cruising wot 20miles out heading south to the fishing grounds as the sun rises…
Just get a hobbie, if you can’t get weekend consistently it’s still fine to go do your hobby on the weekdays to, will be less ppl around.
Is worth it in my book to have less money and more time to enjoy yourself

Work, produce, consume. Repeat. It’s what we do.

Right there with you man. 450 hours of PTO and too busy to take it. Burnout is a real thing. Sometimes i think about the struggles of the early pioneers but wonder if that life was so bad?

Same here since October 1, 1984.

I would like to win the lottery.
I heard a clip from Matthew Perry after he died, and in it, he said he always thought money and fame would bring him happiness and contentment, but it didn’t. He had fame, money, women, adulation, and yet he was still empty and sad.
This will sound trite, but God is the only thing that will give you a sense of completeness and joy.
You won’t always have happiness, but you will have an abiding peace and joy. You will also have a purpose and perspective. If you are serious about having more, pray to him in the name of Jesus Christ, and tell him you want to know him and have a relationship with him. Peace

Life is pain. Plain and simple, it is pain. "Happiness" is the moments when we find ways to hide from pain. Good food, great sex, a child's birthday, national championships, a hilarious film... None of these fix problems. None of them make the bad go away. They are all just band-aids.

You need a source of joy… an inner joy and contentment that you can’t find through your workaday life. Traditionally that’s been faith, church, family, bowling whatever. But an outlet that provides diversion and purpose
