re: The expanded 12-team College Football Playoff is here — and it already has problems.

What you people don't understand is that the regular season was the playoff. Now you can lose two or three games in said season and still have an opportunity to play for a national championship. How does that do anything other than marginalize the regular season and make it less relevant?
So ironic seeing Bama fans make these statements.
Pretty much everything that sucks about CFB now was all done to cater to your program the majority of the past two decades. Yeah yeah, maybe one or two years in the middle of that some other blue blood got a narrative change to keep their regular season losses from hurting them, but to see these statements now is laughable.
The regular season hasn't meant anything to anyone that is not a blue blood in nearly 15 years. Only change is now the blue bloods can lose 2-3 games and still make the playoffs, as opposed to having to shove them in a 2 or four team "final" when they don't win their conference or division (or both).

The BCS wasn’t broken.
Allowing the coaches poll to carry as much weight as it did was the only negative
If it worked off a straight decision tree and had a +1 it would have worked.
If the goal is to avoid mulligans, undo the superconferences and have the SEC champ in the Sugar, the B1G and PAC in the Rose, ACC in the Orange, and XII in the Fiesta. Then let the G5 champs go to play-in games to fill the three blank spots.

I understand the argument that this system will breathe more life into the season as 15-20 teams try to qualify down the stretch. It's just difficult for me to get excited as most big schools can post a meh 10-2 season and get in. I also won't we as hyped to tune into something like the Rose Bowl knowing there are two MORE rounds (and, it will be coming off of the first round for some teams). That's a lot to ask of the players and fanbases. CCG should be scrapped at some point, but there is no financial incentive to do that.

Agreed. But I want to actually see what the thing looks like in reality before condemning it. I just think that college football fans also are the most resistant fans to change of any fan base. And that’s not to say change is automatically good. But it’s inevitable. Nothing in the secular realm on this planet, sports or otherwise, is truly eternal.

Bring on the change. The 12-team playoff is just making sure the better teams are there in the end. (see BAMA and 4-team playoff history)

Isn't it though? But it doesn't make my statements any less true. In 2011, had it been done the old way LSU would have played in the Sugar Bowl against an at-large team while Alabama would have been banished to either the Cotton Bowl or the Orange Bowl. There never would have been a rematch and no one would have bitched or moaned.

So it'll be like the NFL?
