so good luck to all of you who are rolling the dice to think that your kid is going to defy the 0.001% odds of being able to make a living playing sports and will jeopardize their future for it.
my question to op and the haters, why does one have to be at church every time the doors are open? Why can’t the baws have a little of both (ball and Jesus)?

News flash. People are taking spring vacations.
Yep. Church attendance has always declined after Easter and through the summer. It picks back up in the fall. It’s not a new phenomenon because of travel ball.

Who would schedule a practice before noon on a Sunday though? That seems crazy even without the church issue

Kids are in school, they have two days a week for games and one of those happens to be Sunday. We attend mass when traveling for tournaments, just not at our regular church

I've stopped attending church and it has nothing to do with Braxton's travel ball schedule.

No one is saying this.

That’s the wedge that lets complacency and eventually evil in the door. If you don’t need or desire church every Sunday, and it is not a part of your weekly routine, and something else is allowed to take the place of it, then it will fall by the wayside.

I'd rather watch baseball than church

I’m not saying that parents aren’t raising their kids right. I have not accused that one single time so stop trying to put words in my mouth.
I’m pissed off because Sundays have always been Church days for families and these sports leagues, etc have basically said “we don’t care”
If you are not religious or don’t care about Church then this thread does not pertain to you.
I’ll say it again.. if these events weren’t scheduled on Sundays, then we would not be having this conversation.

Everyone is entitled to their beliefs and how they choose to spend their Sundays. I am imperfect, but I do try to attend Mass each Sunday. Doesn't make me any better than the other guy. But I will say this:
Things are pretty shitty right now in the world. Morality and common decency are getting worse each year. What has changed over the last 50 years or so? We are getting more secular each year.
It is so much more than getting right with God. It is the fabric of the country, and it is being dismantled. And it saddens me.
Support your church, spend time with your community, and grow your faith.

Who said that you must go on each of these occasions all of the time in this thread?

I think it all really just comes down to there is too much going on all the time now, especially with kids. Its difficult to fit everything into the schedule.
Because then fall rolls around and heaven forbid we have anything on Saturdays in the fall. Or hunting season, etc.

So are you mad at the league(s) or the patrons of both the league(s)/church who make an independent decision?
The leagues are tempting them to not attend church. They are temptation. Is baseball the devil?

Our church is full for 2 of the. 3 services and partially full for 8:30(traditional service). There’s a complex in our town, but I haven’t noticed it effect the church attendance since it opened 5 or so years ago. Complex will be full on a lot of Sundays, but I guess most attendees are not usual church crowd.

I would prefer that one is in attendance. The church needs you and how you have been gifted by the Holy Spirit. As a member of the clergy, I need you to help me on my spiritual journey.
