It boils down to this, what would you teach a small child learning the game? Would you teach them to touch all the bases including home or teach them it's OK to skip a base here or there? We expect 6-7 year olds to touch every base while teaching but it's nonsense to expect a college aged kid to do the same? Talk about nonsense. The guy fricked up no matter the "everyone gets a trophy" way of trying to reconcile that fact.

Touch em all you dumb asses. And why didn't the coach make the player go back and touch since the ump didn't acknowledge the run. It starts at the top.

Clown take
You don’t touch ALL the bases, your run doesn’t count. Simple as that
You have to be trolling. Same with westcoastFAG

I agree. They should have never changed the IBB.

You're correct. Touching the bases is meaningless once you've knocked it out of the park. Just extends the game time.

quote:the rule is very clear. just like a trailer runner that doesn't tag up and yet the walk off winning run scores from third and defense appeals to 1b where runner didn't tag up... OUT go to another inning defensive team wins....
again, the ball isnt in play
how can the player be recorded out?
I was an umpire when this happened.
runner must touch all bases to score it's pretty simple.

Sorry to tell you, but you got that call wrong. Unless the out at first was recorded before the lead runner touched home, that run counts. The play at first was not a force out.

Shouldn't even have to run the bases if you hit a home run imo.
What a Lazy-arse

this blows my mind. this isnt like skipping second base while going to third on a single
a home run is it. the ball isnt in play anymore. why is this a rule
Do you actively seek out things to melt over?

Wrong

Nope.
OBR rule 4.09.
quote:
APPROVED RULING: One out, Jones on third, Smith on first, and Brown flies out to right field. Two outs. Jones tags up and scores after the catch. Smith attempted to return to first but the right fielder’s throw beat him to the base. Three outs. But Jones scored before the throw to catch Smith reached first base, hence Jones’ run counts. It was not a force play.

Its baked into the name fir a reason:
Homerun
Means “home” “run”
You are doing a run to home.
Can anyone imagine hitting a homerun and then just walking back to the dugout? Its a big achievment and you get to parade around the bases free of worry because you hit it out of park.

So if bases loaded and hit a homerun do all the baserunners just walk back to dugout without running bases? Its part of the sport to run the bases.
Imagine in football a wr catches pass at 50 yard line and no one ahead of him. In your world he doesn’t need to run 50 yards just give him the TD right?
Its part of sport to run bases.

How is this scored? Does he get credit for a triple?

The rule isn’t stupid. It’s logical.
