Government expenditures over $1 bil should be voted by the general public; Zoning law ends

Any government expenditure over $1 bil, including items like sending money to foreign countries, should be decided exactly like the presidential race. By a vote. Now maybe only 10% of the legal aged population shows up to vote on each item, but it still puts the power with the people. There might end up being a vote every couple weeks, but that I feel is justified.
Wayyy more items will be denied. It'll make Americans have much more control over the country. Only items that people feel strongly benefit the nation will be passed.
The current way involves a lot of self interest from Congress that doesn't benefit the public.
In addition, I feel zoning reform laws are a horrible thing for the country now. So many 80 year old women NIMBY's that go and stop housing construction from their special little area that limits supply of houses in the US. It's extremely selfish and hurts the rest of the country with supply limits and many never going to afford a home. That should be abolished yesterday. NIMBY should never, ever trump the general American public being able to afford housing. Shut it down immediately. Sorry Grandma, but for the next 3 years, I'm building cookie cutter homes nearby with construction 8 AM to 6 PM because the general public being able to afford homes is a lot more important than you wanting your space.

Do you want to Federalize elections?
Greeks tried this and it proved ineffective
there would be an increase in the pork barrel appropriations
things would be far more complicated, meaning stuff would be held up for BS even more so that now
foreign influence and lobbying are already bad enough,
you think it would limit the waste but voters are shortsighted and would bend over for the bread and circuses effect
now limit the right to vote on spending to those who pay taxes
ie Landowners,
but that'll never happen
until we go, full fascist,
grossly oversimplified because .... well the audience
watermelon chunks

They'd just break everything down into $999,999,999 increments and vote on them in private. Our government hates us.

On one hand I tend to agree. OTOH, this is how they keep strip clubs and liquor stores from being built next to an elementary school.

Is this a real thing that happened, or just old man yelling at clouds kind of thing?
If so, great! Link me an article.
If not, “Dear Facebook,
Where are we on this now boss?

This is too close to a pure democracy to work in our country.

I pictured that too, but it should accompany a law not allowing to break down items into smaller pieces to pass it. Aka no bullshitting your way. Items under 1 concept couldn't be separated.

Go back to senators being appointed instead of elected.

You're about to downvoted into oblivion. The boomer " conservatives" on here love zoning.

Do you really want to live in a world with no zoning?
