At this stage of his career, the best way for CJ to perform well in the postseason is for Zion to be on the court.

So are you now saying its ok for CJ to perform badly because he’s not in his specific role and thats Zions’s fault?

I don’t disagree with you on those points but I also expect him to perform somewhat adequately without Zion. Again do you agree its not ok for CJ to perform this bad in postseason without Zion?
I guess my thing is I get it, without Zion CJ isn’t as effective especially in postseason play. That being said theres no excuse for him to be this BAD in postseason play. There just isn’t. I mean there are several 3 pt shots this postseason that have been wide open that CJ has just missed. How much of his shooting woes are because Zion is not there???

I don't think anyone thinks he, or anyone on the team for that matter has played well... but at least they are playing.
I'd kill to see Zion not play well in the postseason at this point, because at least that means we've cleared the baseline expectation of him being able to stay healthy long enough to play in the postseason.

So to get somewhat back on topic in stead of reading two guys that are never going to agree---
You don't move Zion. You keep him. He is the face of the franchise.
BI has got to go; He is playing like a 90s player and that doesn't cut it and he refuses to change.
CJ he's old, it shows, but I don't think you can get rid of him for anything s my guess is you are stuck with him
Herb stays
Trey I guess has to stay, but IMO he is not worth close to 25-30 a year, but that is what it will take to keep him. I foresee that being a bad contract.
JV - love the dude, but we don't use him correctly so just let him go elsewhere
Nance - Get that POS off the team
I'd keep Alvarado, Hawk, and Naji.
So you need a big man, a wing player/shooter, and a PG. The PG can be a facilitator, don't need a huge scorer here.
But in the grand scheme of things it doesn't matter. We have a terrible coach who can't scheme for shite, so we are screwed anyway.

Im not arguing against people upset Zion can’t play in the playoffs.
But to me I cant just excuse CJ for his performances and say well hes at least playing and he doesn’t have Zion. This isn’t like last year when he was injured either. This is a healthy CJ coming off a damn good regular season who has completely shite the bed when we needed him. I think that’s inexcusable. He doesn’t need to be all star good but he can’t be this bad either.

So what was the point of your post?? Lol.
You could have just said this from the beginning lol.

That's the thing though, he does have to be All Star good if Zion isn't there.
That's a problem because CJ has never truly been an All Star level player.

I mean if hes even close to being decent, not all star good, we win against the lakers when Zion got hurt and we win game 1 of this series. Again he just needs be better than he is right now.

Awesome... and then we still lose in the first round because we don't lose Zion.

Bro I think you’re going off tangent lol.
I’m just saying its possible for us to win postseason games if CJ plays better and he doesn’t need to be all star good to do that.

CJ playing better is the difference between us losing in 5 or 6 and us losing in 4 or 5... it doesn't really matter.

Thats difference between a competitive series and a sweep(4 compared to 6). I think it matters.
I get your point- we lose anyway who cares. But if thats the point- did you really think pels were going to win the championship this year?
This brings me back to my point where I stated (and people shitted on me)- from a longterm point of view what was the point of making the playoffs without Zion? Might as well take the better pick and put more pressure for changes on the organization.

Cj has been terrific for us this season . He bought into his role and played it very well.
Playoffs are a different game entirely . He has to make shots at an high clip to offset his deficiencies defensively . That hasn’t happened yet .

My point is that it would be a problem if CJ was playing bad while Zion was on the floor. That would cause a real hindrance to what we're trying to accomplish.
Right now though, the hindrance to what we're trying to accomplish is Zion's lack of being able to finish a season because he doesn't take his body seriously.
Sure, a lower body injury every now and then can be random, but a dude this young to have this many hamstring, knee and foot injuries... that's more than likely a weight problem and it will only get worse as he gets older unless he starts taking this shite seriously.

I do think thats changing in regards to him taking his body seriously but I’m sure people would disagree. I do think he needs to lose more weight but a pulled hammy which is likely a grade 1 happens to a lot of players isn’t a huge deal- yes I know hes had other injuries but this one isnt a huge setback. It just happened at the worst time.

frick it BI and CJ for DLo and AD. But only if AD says he is sorry. DLo Herb Trey Zion AD.
Posted on 4/26/24 at 4:08 am to Fun Bunch
I don’t see moving BI as a soft rebuild as much as a retool.
It’s mostly that he doesn’t work with Zion as well.
alternatively you change coaches and hire a guy predicated on how well they pitch a BI -Zion based offense.
