Koki's article also provides an update on Neal's shoulder injury.

When asked about the possibility of right-hander Chase Shores returning to pitch from Tommy John surgery this season, Johnson said on Monday, "that would surprise me."
"I had a good meeting with him last night when we returned home of just where we're at," Johnson said. "(He) threw a good bullpen up there at Missouri.
"It doesn't feel like it's gonna be what's best for him to get him back (this year)."
A month ago, Johnson said that LSU toyed with the idea of bringing him back this season by having him throw just one or two pitches in games instead of allowing him to throw his entire arsenal of pitches but decided against it.
"But then you have to look at the back half of what the rehab looks like. Does that slow down his rehab? Well, I think we all know what the ceiling and talent level of that young man is," Johnson said. "And what we need for him to do in 2025 is you know, throw more than two innings a week.
"He is progressing great. I just don't know that it's in his best interest to do that."
Shores has been sidelined since last April when he underwent his surgery. He posted a 1.96 ERA in 18? innings last season as a freshman.

Not a huge surprise to anyone who's been paying attention. Onward and upward. Hopefully he's 100% ready for fall ball.

I’m glad the staff is letting him get 100% healthy even if he never pitches for us again, don’t ruin his future to rush back for college pitching.

Why wouldn't he pitch for us again?

Lots of arms to get work tomorrow but hopefully we see Noot throw again soon and be able to contribute.

In layman's terms, Johnson isn't going to let him throw in what is a basically a season that is over for all intents and purposes. If LSU was in a title hunt, then no problem throwing him.

Serious question because I really have no idea. What is the difference in him and Grant Taylor?
Posted on 4/22/24 at 2:29 pm to Classy Doge
Ell said he would be pitching in Mid-March

Has there been any Noot update?

About 10 months of age at this point in their careers.

My bad, I thought this was even a discussion because he was draft eligible.

Shores doesn’t turn 21 until next May. He isn’t even 20 yet.

Noot has already pitched this year.

Yeah, I thought 10 months. It's actually 366 days. Taylor was over a full year older than Shores is as a sophomore.

Shores and Johnson as your 1 and 2 will look really good next year, is all I know.

Seems to have worked out well for Jake Latz. He pitched in 7 games for lsu, transferred to Kent State with elbow issues never pitched there and is now a major league relief pitcher in the show..
