There's a move to strip power from New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell

BULLYING OFF {ON}

The political power of the mayor of New Orleans is under attack.
In the past two months, Democratic state lawmakers have sponsored a series of bills that would dilute the authority of Mayor LaToya Cantrell — and any future New Orleans mayor — over boards that control public housing, regional transit, emergency dispatch and the Downtown Development District. A task force appointed by Republican Gov. Jeff Landry recently threatened a state takeover of the Sewerage and Water Board, while Louisiana State Police officers, who report to the state, will once again patrol New Orleans.
And for the better part of two years, the City Council has secured more power by convincing voters to give it authority over mayoral appointees, forcing out a top Cantrell aide and, at times, and freezing departmental budgets to force the administration to comply with its demands.
Together, the moves represent the broadest affront to mayoral power in New Orleans in decades, according to long-time political observers, who said critics of Cantrell — a second-term mayor beset by controversies — are seizing on a power vacuum created by her perceived unpopularity.

She brought this on herself.
She blew off all parts of the office that didn’t involve getting comped trips somewhere or an apartment to blow off her NOPD boy toy.

I'll see Bigfoot jogging in Veterans Hwy before that happens. BR is filled with a bunch of nut-less cronies who get fat insurance contracts, need NOLA to make the payroll, to fatten their pockets. Latoya is untouchable, and they know it

What's going to happen is they're going to strip as much power from the mayor's office as possible, and somehow, inexplicably, NO will finally elect a good R mayor that would actually fix shite, but they won't have the power to.

Wonder if they are going to make her pay for her trips in the future.

The last Republican mayor of New Orleans was elected in the 70’s………….the 1870’s.

Negan was a Republican N.O. Mayor and switched to Democrat.

Good. Given the current state of Nola, this cannot hurt. And as bad as she has been as "mayor" the problem really started long, long before her.
She's really just a symptom on the larger problem if we're totally honest.
I'd still love to see her get throat punched though just because she's acts to entitled and smug.

Latoya is a special, sad case. It has nothing to do with political affiliation. She’s just incompetent.
